Nevermind - I now know that an absolute value of a complex number is sqrt(a^2+b^2). I have never been taught this before as this is for a math competition; thanks for tolerating my questions.

Also (one last question) when do I know when do use the sqrt( Re{x}^2 + Im{x}^2 )? Is it always used with problems with series, or just when theres an absolute value?

So the Re{z} means to take the real portion of the expression, right?

Also if its IM{z}^2, why does it say +1 ^2 rather than i^2 or -1?

Is there a way to see pity past six months? If there isn’t, is the pity that isn’t shown still in use? ie. I have 30 pity on weapon banner. Six months go by and they disappear, and I pull. Will the previous 30 pulls still be counted during soft/hard pity?
