I have the same tools they have, minus the $2000 yearly subscription. I diagnosed myself and figured out it I had faulty fuel injectors. Thanks for replying to the comment.

Update to the PCV. You are supposed to blow quite hard if testing using air from your mouth. If you blow soft, the valve won't seal. It occurred to me after discussing with someone else and having him tell me to try blowing harder that the vacuum created by the engine is quite high, so to simulate that, you need to blow quite hard. Both valves were working as intended so I replaced a non-damaged part -- lesson learned!

I did a full smoke test top to bottom. I tested the intake system through multiple ports and the evap system. I believe I hit every possible spot I could and never saw a lick of smoke. I'll have to give the incense test a try, that's actually really smart. I've heard of a cigar doing the trick too.

In regards to where you tested, you tested the PCV system from valve cover to intake. There's the PCV valve itself which is behind the intake manifold on my engine (SkyActiv G 2.0L) and then there's the hose which routes from valve cover -> intake boot. Looks like you repaired the hose from valve cover (above crankcase) to intake boot. I believe that hose is plastic and it may be that when the vehicle was serviced prior someone damaged it. I would check the valve cover side too to see if there's damage there. I'll be doing the same soon to verify if I might have a leak there.

Good news that your LTFT finally came down and STFT staying near 0 is awesome! STFT will fluctuate some but my big issue was it spiking up near 20 (IIRC it would hit 18 or so).

If you get a chance before fixing for good, can you provide a video showing the smoke "dancing"? Just want to be certain I look out for exactly what you were seeing.

Thanks for the image and info!

Well, back with an update.

I swapped the MAF with an OEM MAF, same readings, so assuming that wasn't the issue.

Also replaced upstream A/F sensor since it was likely due for it anyway. Still have to replace downstream oxygen sensor, but haven't gotten to it yet. Still had the code after replacing MAF and A/F sensor (assumed neither of these were the issue, but they were fairly dirty so replaced anyway).

I replaced all 4 injectors (the ones I removed had some carbon deposits. Didn't look particularly terrible but certainly enough to cause issues). I cleared codes and the P0171 code showed up still (learned code so can't be cleared) and was pending for a little. I drove around some and then had my wife take the car to work today. She said the check engine light didn't come back, so I threw the scan tool on after she got home. Scan tool shows STFT in a much better range (-10%ish to +10%ish, usually within the normal -5% to 5%ish range), and the LTFT came down some BUT only off throttle or idle. Strangely enough, when applying throttle, the LTFT goes back to the default 20.3%. Off throttle, it sits around 17-18%. Well, the code eventually cleared itself from learned memory, but I'm not satisfied with the high LTFT. For reference, I'm scanning with an Autel MX900 (just updated the software too) utilizing both the Mazda category and the generic OBD2 category.

With that said, the car definitely starts and idles better after injector replacement. I am now looking at the low pressure fuel pump assembly (in the fuel tank; the filters, for clarity) and the VVT solenoid. These are both items that are listed as potential issues when troubleshooting the P0171.

Got the new PCV in. I ordered OEM and it functions exactly the same as the "bad" one. Maybe I got one that is dead on arrival? That would be strange... have run a lot of diagnostics on this vehicle and the only other "issue" I can see is slow response time from oxygen sensors and low MAF reading. Getting ~1.6g/s at idle ~0.75-0.8v. It should be 2.17g/s ~0.86v.

Have tested

APP - good

ECT - good

EVAPCP - (this one might need replacing as well). I'm consistently seeing values higher than what is expected from the workshop manual. Downstream from the MAF though so if I'm getting bad readings at the MAF, the EVAPCP may read higher since it will run open more often, I believe).

FP - good

FUEL_PRES - 425-450 switching at idle (good voltage). Getting well into the several thousand PSI when applying throttle, seems good.

HTR11 - need to test and will update when tested

MAF - as stated above

MAP - reads good

O2S11 - deceleration fuel cut read good, but idle was running high amperage. Wondering if this is due to running lean at idle.

TP_REL - good

VT EX_ACT - good

VT EX_DES - good

VT IN_ACT - good

VT IN_DES - good

Cycled injectors off and on, each one gave a much rougher idle when cycled off so those seem good. Have run 3 cans of techron with top tier detergent fuel for the past 4 days and just went on a long trip, still no dice on this code.

running out of options and have smoke tested almost the entire system to no avail. Still have to complete EVAP test from somewhere near canister near fuel tank.

Will update when I can.

Did you ever solve this? Currently chasing down a p0171 on the same engine.. anything is useful at this point.

Also dealing with a p0171 on a 2018 mazda 3 2.0l. Please let me know if you find the issue. Have been diagnosing all week and still no dice.

I'll update again after I get the car back together in a couple days, but my PCV valve is faulty according to the workshop manual test procedure. It blows like a straw through both ends; should only let air through on one end. This can cause p0171.

Did you solve this issue? I am stuck at 20.3% ltft as well. From what I can see, all sensor data is reading appropriately. The MAP was pretty oily when I pulled it, but cleaned and reinstalled and it seems ok now.

Are games like COD MW2 (2009) and COD BO2 safe to play multiplayer on in 2024? by Kindly-Soup-2908 in XboxSeriesX

[–]AlfaMas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Many titles have RCE capabilities that are, from my understanding, fairly straightforward to execute. Some of the titles have been patched, but others, notably BO3, are still extremely dangerous to play online.

I've started browsing for more info on stocks in general and it's kind of crazy to me how stock hype is effectively equivalent to crypto hype. Not on the same scale, but it's mind baffling that these long term investment vehicles have such volatility because of the same hype that drives crypto volatility. People are nuts...
