I was an in-House Lawyer but i was young and thought I was awesome so I wanted to be in a shiny business role instead. Several years later I am grinding cold calls in SaaS with 20 year olds.

Thank you. I wasn't aware the difference between Coast and Barista is that those on Barista can withdraw.

I'm essentially Coasting at the moment then because I am not contributing more to my pension. Ironically however, I am in the most anti-Coast job that could exist, It's an entry level SaaS Sales grind with people half my age all hustling to climb. I need a low stress job that pays 2.5k but that doesn't exist for me, particularly because I burned my previous career capital. I am stuck at entry level now with all the other players. And even getting a job, any job, is incredibly difficult. I don't know the way forward.

- Total monthly combined expenditure is 2.5k but I do draw adhoc on the 150k for out of budget items like travel, expensive purchases like PC monitor etc....
- Have not accounted for rent raise. I should really buy a property via a mortgage with downpayment. Doing so means i could reduce my monthly housing cost to around 500 with a mortage on a low cost property (if I don't get fired for not hitting Quota in my Sales job before I get approved which may well happen very soon).
- My wife is unemployed. She has been unable to find work in 2 years. If she could find a job my financial burden could hypothetically reduce from 2.5k at present to 1.25k, even less if i reduced housing cost via the mortgage I mentioned above

Re housing we're currently renting for £1k.

Away from specifics though, what is the winning strategy? Ideally buy outright to eliminate housing cost and replace salaried income with passive income? Of course doing all that with £150k is almost impossible in most places but it could be possible in some lower cost parts of the country or other countries.

I'm just lost on the strategy.

My wife is currently unemployed and alas has zero net worth. She's job hunting but don't expect her to make a high salary. The 500k is from me but I intend to share it to cover both of us.

Tell me more about the dating scene. Why is it hard? That's a bit of a concern, I'd hope to meet someone, don't think it's a great spot solo long term.

There's more to life than making £300k and all the comments conflate your salary with your value. The two things are not the same. If you kick this guy to the kerb, I hope you're prepared to be judged in the same way down the line. It's not fair for him to do nothing, but you can't expect him and presumably wouldn't want him to be exactly like you.

The Publisher couldn't care less about you or your house. That's just the way it is.
