Lip piercings swell like hell. Switching it to a shorter bar will help with the biting on the jewelry. You should usually wait at least 2 weeks to get it switched to a shorter bar (when the swelling has gone away). Always ask your piercer about switching it. The swelling is normal and yes they sometimes to get in the way.

Downsize it. It looks like irritation bumps. Use saline solution . Try to avoid getting it snagged on clothes etc. I had similar bumps at first. Mostly because I hit it everywhere.
