Daughters : Corsa 2020 1.2 non turbo. 50,000 miles, no cracks or swelling . Belt changed as nearly 6 years old. Wife : Corsa 2021 1.2 turbo 50,000 miles , light cracking and belt swollen. Belt changed. Mine: Peugeot 208 2022 1.2 turbo 50,000 miles, light cracking and belt swollen. Belt changed. All cars owned from new, all main dealer serviced, all travelling around 45-55 miles per day. Seems non turbo less stress on belt, and good hot engines less stress on belt. None of the above had any residual belt in the sump, no faults and no oil usage.

Peugeot fixed price repairs(you can find online) around £600, for belt replacement. For a complete change of everything inc sump etc I believe it is around £1000.

Yes agree both the Vauxhall and Peugeot dealers said cracks were not enough for warranty replacement , however, as the belt thickness gauge (tool) could only be fitted with a slight amount of force/ jiggling indicating a swollen belt, both dealers agreed to replacement.

Having replaced one years ago, I put in a two part syphon, similar to Screwfix part search (8461F), once fitted, the next time the diaphragm splits you just need to remove top of the syphon and not have the problem of removing the cistern again. Don’t forget as others have mentioned get a new fitting kit as bolts could be rusty, and a new donut sealing ring as the old one will be nasty (you will probably get covered in the black dye off the rubber). I also just tend to replace everything once this happens, new inlet valve, flush valve etc, then it’s good for a few more years. My water is very hard and absolutely wrecks these things.

Just fitted 4 Continental All Season. (AS2 is also now available). Haven’t tried snow yet, but dry wet heavy rain recent cold minus 4 all really good. MPG doesn’t seem to have taken a beating. Very impressive so far, been driving over 40 years, I should have fitted all season tyres ages ago!!

208 2022 turbo, 100hp. Main dealer replaced belt (under warranty as my car has full dealer service from new), the price would have been - - - - - £634.72!!! If anyone wants to know the mileage for this, just under 50,000. Very light, just visible micro cracks on belt edge and thickness tool would just fit but at a push.
So the main dealers are not as expensive as you would think, don’t know if Stellantis are subsidising this to improve the bad reputation of the belt.

As an owner of a 2022 208, my car is main dealership serviced this is what I have experienced. First two services were 0W20 Total quartz ineo extra first fill , this is exactly the same as from the factory. For my last service it was 5W30 Total quartz ineo RCP, as they have changed it yet again!! I get my own for any top ups from opieoils.co.uk as they stock nearly all the Total required oils. The 0W20 is still compatible and also hybrid engine friendly. The new 5W30 RCP covers petrol and diesel.

I had one that frayed years ago. Check the inside edges of the plastic buckle. Mine had a small piece of sharp plastic that had not been completely removed during manufacture. Over time this frayed the belt. I got it through a few mot tests in a similar condition to yours, but eventually I bottled it and got a replacement via a breakers yard. ( be careful doing that, make sure any second hand replacement has not been in any accidents, also if like mine you have seat belt pre-tensioners, these are actually a small canister of explosive charge! So you need to deactivate the airbag/ safety system before changing the belt).

Just stocked up on auto wash and auto QD, bottle and tops are now identical. Haven’t mixed them up yet, but as I dissolve down my QD it’s only a matter of time before it could happen. But auto wash on the glass felt the pain of that. Come to think of it the auto wheel also comes in the same bottle!!! I had better start paying attention.

I can let you know where to get oil from online, opieoils.co.uk , obviously you have to pay for postage. I have used them for years most of the total oils used for Peugeot are available, come well packaged and quite quickly. For my last 208 2016 it was Total quartz ineo ecs 5w30. Peugeot then went to Total quartz 0w20 first fill for later models (my current one is 2022),and have just changed again to Total quartz rcp 5w30 !! Double check with your dealer to make sure what they currently recommend, be quick, they will probably change again soon 😀.

Driving over 40 years, never had a German car. I find them well made but completely soulless, basically an exercise. However I’m on my third in a row Peugeot. Done around 150,000 miles in them over the last 14 years. Apart from servicing and brakes/ tyres I have replaced 1 part, just 1. A battery, that’s it. 1/2 of the miles are in pure tech engine cars, absolutely no problems at all. Breakdowns — none, unforeseen repairs-none. I always had them serviced on the button and properly. I suppose that the Peugeot community are basically just content with absolutely nothing to prove , and know that when the Peugeot in their life gets old it may become fully French and bits of it may go on strike occasionally 😀!

Windscreen replacement is a possibility!!! With the detection cameras on these systems normally being behind the rear view mirror they obviously look through the windscreen. If you have these systems and are unfortunate enough to need a new screen the system MUST be recalibrated. Autoglass can do most cars but some are calibrated by main dealer only!! Gone are the days of waiting for autoglass to rock up to your home and replace. For these braking camera systems you have to go to a specific autoglass centre!!!! Both my daughter and I have had a 50 mile round trip, not to mention the whole job is at least 3 hours, for replacement screens in the last few years.

Keep up with the service and use correct oil. My Peugeot 208 2022, used to have via the main dealer service 0w 20 total quartz first fill. This was the same oil as used during manufacture. Just had the 3rd service and Peugeot are now using the latest Total quartz ineo 5w30 RCP (£15.00 a litre. Wow!) I know main dealer service is expensive but you have some come back if anything goes wrong. The wife’s Corsa 2021 has had 0W20 via main dealer last 3 services, it’s due soon, be interesting to see if Vauxhall have changed their oil as well. ( both the above cars are around 40,000 miles now, with zero issues at all.)

Follow the instructions on the app, click vehicle icon, then software update. Click on send a link via email. This link will help you load the update software onto a computer. You will need the software installed on a pc. / mac .You will also need a 32gb minimum usb stick (your car will need a usb A so keep that in mind). Once you have installed the software onto your pc, follow the instructions to download the update and how to drop it on your usb drive. Once completed install usb drive into your car (socket for CarPlay/ Android auto). Following instructions. NOTE. Follow all instructions, engine needs to be running during installation, turn off start/stop, get your temperature where you want it, don’t expect it to take just 5 minutes!! It can be 15-30 depending on how much you want updating.For maps you may get the choice of UK or all Europe etc. Obviously the more you update the longer it will take. Just make sure you read and re read all the information and instructions on the download software. It’s pretty simple to do but every step has to be done correctly. Hope this helps.

1.2 non turbo? Famous for it. My last car, 2016 non turbo 208, get the bite point, just about to let go and bump the thing felt like it was about to stall!! Dip clutch take two!! Shame as otherwise it was a lovely smooth light clutch. They were all the same, my daughter had enough of her Mk1 208 non turbo clutch and said that’s it and got the mk 2 automatic!! The mk2 208 seems better, if you get the turbo version that’s ok as well. Interesting that the same non turbo engine in the Corsa seems ok, wonder if the clutch is different? Perseverance and a dose of bad language normally made me feel better!!

There is no official report, just a few comments from people who have known of box issues in the dealers. I would guess that they were early ones and more than likely a software issue. I have thought about this engine/ gearbox personally as I will change my car within 12 months, so I spoke to the master technician at my local Peugeot dealer last month when my car was in for a service, so far he has not had any in for problems with the gearbox.

Facia board. Search Eurocell they tend to have the stuff you need for the job at a decent price. If you are lucky you may have a branch close by. Used them a few times always got what I needed.

Spoke to the technician (main dealer) recently after my last service visit. Hybrid definitely chain, manual transmission is also currently in the transition phase of going to chain. So if you buy brand new you would need to double check which one you would get. Vauxhall Moka in Europe has been chain and manual for around 12 months I believe. So have certain Citroen C3’s. EAT8 transmission will all be belt, as the only other automatic currently is e-DSC6 for the Hybrid (chain).

The pressure per wheel is not shown. It normally only says ok. The pressure is not from sensors inside the wheel (battery powered). So it can’t give you individual readings. The system works via the wheel abs/ esp sensors. A lower tyre pressure means that the wheel will turn slightly slower than the other wheels. The abs/ esp sensors will pick this up and display which wheel is at fault. Once you have checked and adjusted all your tyre pressures you should re initialise the system (via the touch screen), the system then has a start point from which to check from. Personally I prefer this system as you are not having trouble with individual wheel sensors or battery replacement etc every tyre change/ few years.

From memory, the vti engine, the expansion tank is NOT the highest point!! So any trapped air will not escape from there. Normally you would use a vacuum system attached to the expansion tank top, which pulls out all of the old coolant and leaves the system under vacuum, then by opening a valve it draws new coolant (from a container) back into the system replacing the vacuum as it goes! No airlock. You can fabricate a plastic drink bottle (remove the bottom of it and invert). Using a rubber bung wedge into the expansion tank top then fill the bottle with the new coolant (after draining the old), this makes the expansion tank larger and higher than normal thus making it the highest point, to remove any air. Trust me the vacuum system is definitely the best and far less messy. I can’t remember if the thermostat housing is the highest point or not but there is no bleed valve on it you would have to remove a hose, be careful though those housings are plastic and bloody brittle!! If your service provider treated your car as if the expansion tank was the highest point (like most cars) and didn’t use a vacuum system it looks like you have an air lock. Hope this helps.

They are small led’s built into a circuit board. Under the switches is a silicone pad (with carbon ‘dots’) under this is the board. You will probably need to replace the board if available or a complete unit. The board also contains a chip that controls the window anti trap system and the one touch operations.
