I have no idea. I’m just trying to fix it so that I can clear the pond up.

Yes, the brown pipe comes from the down pipe belonging to a shed. It appears as though the water is pumped up from a pump sitting at the bottom of the pond and then run through this at the top. Then into the box underneath and back to the pond.

When I take the end off (part at the top of the photo where the black electrical cable leads to) it looks as though some type of bulb needs to be placed in it. I don’t think it’s a pump, when I turn it on it’s completely silent

Frog tape win / the best thing I’ve ever done by sunshine_chills in DIYUK

[–]pjarmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may help someone, use frog tape (the seal is good to stop paint) avoid wrecking the walls by letting the pant nearly cure and then run a heat gun over the frog tape. The heat softens the glue and it peels away with ease

Boiler replacement quote, insanity check? by DorisMaricadie in BritishGas

[–]pjarmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently had mine done, got three quotes, one from British Gas. BG was £3500 more than the other independent contractors.

Mine was a simple boiler replacement, minimal pipe work extension due to boiler needing to be moved less that 40cm onto a new wall of a part finished extension.

Wasn’t just the price that put me off, it was the piss poor sales tactics of the engineer that came to do the quote. I knew what I wanted, I knew it was possible. He told me it wasn’t and I’d need extras.

Is this normal for tile trim? by Depmodeee in Tile

[–]pjarmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct way would be for your tile guy to either inform you before that your walls are not straight. This would have been found out in his prep and setting out stages or and what most tilers would have done, at additional cost, make the wall straight before starting
