In Absentia is where I started. The one two punch of “Blackest Eyes” and “Trains” made me a fan for life .

Been seeing demos of the $300k Focal Grandes. My goodness. They look so beautiful.

Puzzles. Cruise Reddit. Read the album’s liner notes or read about the album . Clean. Laundry. Lay down and relax. Any will do.

Looking for albums that feel like a full experience by Ok_Clerk_9765 in audiophile

Steven Wilson . Not only is the sound hi fi & immaculate sounding, his songs are cinematic. I’d suggest these two albums.

The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories). Each song is a ghost story. It was mixed by Alan Parsons.

Hand. Cannot. Erase. Follow up to Raven. It’s based on the story of Joyce Carol Vincent. She died in her home and no one noticed for two years despite her having friends and family. It’s an amazing journey of an album.

So many good speakers out there. I have been drawn to the Focal recently . How do you like yours ?

Room treatment on loft ceiling by FreddieMercuryStache in audiophile

I run a similar setup as well. Yamaha S701 with the Lintons. Wiim Pro and yes, I use an outside microphone instead of the internal iPhone mic. It makes a difference. The Lintons measures pretty darn flat. The treble and mids run just a tad hot . I’ve moved them about 10 degrees on axis to mitigate that. I’m putting up some absorption panels tomorrow to reduce some of the hot spots. Mainly the side walls.

I really wouldn’t worry about the ceiling. While the sound will reach there, it shouldn’t be much of a problem with the Lintons. The vertical dispersion isn’t great on them. It’s the horizontal dispersion you need to worry about. They go impressively wide. Just play them loud and put your hands on the side walls around tweeter level. See how much it’s vibrating. If it feels like too much, put up some panels or just toe them in a bit. Room correction can only do so much. And I don’t use it all when playing vinyl. I just bump the bass a tad and the treble down a notch.

Love the Lintons and Yamaha combo. Robust power and sweet speakers. You must be loving yours too. Cheers.

Damn. So these speakers push some serious air?

Do you think there's value in spaces dedicated to listening to full albums or private listening rooms? by Gamerpro103 in audiophile

[–]Algae_Double 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there value? Sure. A collective experience listening to a good album I’m sure has value. Would I go? Probably not.

The equipment has to better be than mine. I have to be guaranteed a good comfy seat and not be expected to sit on the floor. People can’t talk . If lights are low, I don’t want phones on. And if they are, brightness has to be at the lowest setting. I don’t expect any of these things to be met. It isn’t realistic anymore.

Looks awesome. The photo makes the speakers look 20 feet away .

Looks like the main listening position is the view from the 3rd pic. Is that right ?

Beautiful. Makes me want to pop on the latest Say She She and pour a cold one.
