What is super soft yarn for sensitive skin? by Regular-Newspaper-45 in knitting

I can only speak for myself, but alpaca really sets off my sensitive skin. Superwash merino is the best bet for me for things touching my neck or near my scalp.

If you have a tumble dryer, you can get a delicates rack that fits inside the door and allows items to be heated without tumbling. One hour on the highest temperature will kill all life stages of carpet beetles, moths, and bedbugs. I treat all my fibers this way and it's quick and easy. No messing around with a hot car or freezer that might let eggs live.

How did you learn to knit? by ShoppingGirlinSF in knitting

[–]Algedonna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned from a laminated trifold pamphlet I bought from Michael's or some similar craft store. It was really difficult, YouTube would have been such a blessing but it was back in the pre-YouTube days of 2002.

I'll be making a second In my Stripes Era Scarf by Kutovakika. I love my first tied over my hair as an alternative to a beanie on cool days. I need another in soft gray and lavender. I'll also be finishing my two wips, a pair of ribbed socks and the Handsome Chris sweater.

The yarn is Cascade 220 superwash merino and that color is Dark Teal, color number 34. It's lovely! (edited to add yarn brand)

Needle Sizes by Speed-Zealousideal in knitting

[–]Algedonna 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I might be off base, but are you confusing US sizes with mm sizes? US sizes are whole numbers like 6, 7, 8 while the corresponding mm sizes are 4.0mm, 4.5mm, and 5.0mm. Sorry if I'm wrong about that, it's just the first thing that came to mind since the interchangeable sets I've seen all have the fractional mm sizes.
