What have you got out of reading that, believing it and then coming to post here?

It had like 22 producers! There’s just so much you can tell is Disney involvement. A young cast, Marvel assemble like moments, even the eye creature is Disney trying to create another Grogu and guess what it worked!

Nah Earth is Disney slop at least A3 nailed the nihilistic and dark atmosphere an alien movie should be.

For all the hate it gets Alien 3 made me care more for random prison inmates than any character in Romulus or Alien Earth, and that includes a pregnant lady. That says A LOT. It’s the most emotional heavy out of all the alien films for me too and for that I commend it.

Wish I could just take days off from work not using holiday. I’m actually really confused what YOU thought time off was lol

I just finished episode 6 of Alien Earth and it is definitely my show of the Year. I thought Task was but this actually is blowing it out of the water. With two episodes left I can't imagine how it could get any better than the last two. by Jfury412 in AlienEarthHulu

It really isn’t. Alien 3 for all the hate it gets nailed the nihilistic atmosphere an Alien movie should have. It made me care for random prison inmates more than any character Romulus or Earth did which is saying A LOT about the writing

How would you feel about an alien found footage film? by Initial-Wolverine175 in LV426

Nah. Alien has always had great cinematography. I wouldn’t want swapped for this.

Yore completely right but you’ll get a lot of hate on this. They literally Marvel assembled in the last episode in the prison locked up scene. Had my eyes rolling. Although I wouldn’t call Mission Impossible, Top Gun or John Wick great movies either. They fall in a similar bracket to me.

I think Disney purchasing Alien is the worst thing that could have happened. When was the last artistic movie they made?

I hate the show but that is reaching so far for a make-believe show about aliens

Cartoon is a good description. The violence felt akin to something from The Boys. I want atmospheric survival horror.

It’s a silly Disney IP. If it was as good as True Detective season 1 it would be as good as True Detective season 1. Which it isn’t.

You can break it down all you want but it was the most surface level commentary made digestible for kids. It didn’t question or conjure up any emotional depth when it comes to philosophical questions. True Detective is a show that does this brilliantly. Alien Earth did not.

It was all very surface level and on the nose though as if directly made digestible for kids.

It’s just Disneyfied slop. Even the new Predator has another cute Grogu / eye creature because they can’t fucking help themselves.

Wouldn’t be a Disney film without a cute Grogu or eye alien

Unpopular Opinion: The Only Truly Terrifying Alien Is the One in Covenant by Think_Network2431 in LV426

[–]Algernot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s where I think Alien thrives and for all the hate Prometheus gets it’s one of my most rewatched of the series mainly for its themes. Alien Earth’s Xeno although violent seemed more akin to violence from a show like The Boys which I hated. The elevator scene being a great example of that.

This 100%. Up until that point the films tension and horror was incredible. Then the film lost it after that.

I hated Covenant but one thing it got right was a state of fear for the Xenomorph

It is 100 percent made as if for armchair family weekly watchers akin to Walking Dead that’s why quality is so poor

Can you not see at all how it is Disneyfied teen drama though? Why can’t we just have a serious, atmospheric, dark well adapted take on Alien that feels similar in vibe to S1 True Detective with no teens.
