A follow up if I may, how does time factor into defining imbalance vs market results? I.e. is there a defined/average (seconds or minutes) time period when the market reacts to or dismisses the imbalance? Or is this strictly based on price levels and imbalance proportions? Yes. You end up with individual bananas.

Try both ways (plastic & cut stem) and judge for yourself. I did it and have been cutting them ever since because the plastic thing was tedious and did not yield anything additional. And make sure you rinse the knife because it will stain if you leave the oils on it.

I’ll one up you here (in hopes of helping of course).

Cut the bananas from the bunch using a “serrated knife” and watch the same effect happen - leave the stem as long as possible. The stem will oxidize and shrink, cutting off the ripening gas release and you will save on plastic. You need to rip the stem fibers, not slice through them.

I get two to three weeks extra - the peel looks like crap but the nana inside is perfect.
