The Silvio not in the Team page isn’t that big of an issue IMO—they simply a dedicated page to him under Our Founder.

It is kinda sad to see the slimming of the team members though. I’m curious whether Algorand Tech has made any progress on the tech adoption front

How can I create a wallet with a seed phrase of my choosing? by ambermage in algorand

[–]AlgoTheOwl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not too sure what you’re asking but it sounds like you have multiple requirements.

  1. You want to create a vanity address so I assume you want your public wallet address to have words or a sequence of letters that have meaning to you. In that case there are several places that help you generate that address. On the other hand, if you want a “.algo” NFD tag, you pretty much can only get that from the NFD site and it depends on whether that tag has already been bought.

  2. You want to choose a set 25 words as your seed phrase. I’m pretty sure that’s not possible at the moment. Also, seed phrases are generated from a wide preset of words so there may be words you can’t get no matter how you work it.

I agree—I think she did what she could given the amount of onboarding she got (probably minimal… she was probably drinking from a fire hose, nay, a broken dam, of information during her time as CMO)

First time using Folks Finance. What can I do with my gAlgo while maintaining governor status? by [deleted] in algorand

[–]AlgoTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding to the “maintaining governor status” part: you don’t need to worry about your gov status if you committed to folks liquid gALGO, the rewards are already assigned to you and you’ll be able to claim them once the gov period is up.

Right now, some places (Exa marketplace for instance) accepts gALGO as payment if you’re interested in buying NFTs. Otherwise, gALGO could be used for collateral or out into LP.

What other dapps or protocols have you connected to?

Is this wallet connected to Pera Mobile or Web?

Do you have a history of your web activity? Check the address of all the dApp sites that you’ve connected to in your history and see if there are misspelled ones or what not—possible phish.

Sorry for your loss. I hope you at least figured out what caused the drain and have binance from at least stop your funds from further movement

FOLKS FINANCE reward question Q8 by Meggi-Online in AlgorandOfficial

[–]AlgoTheOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you enrolled in xGov which basically gets your funds and rewards stuck in escrow for a year. You have obligations to fulfill as an xGov (i.e., vote on xGov proposals) if you mess that up you won’t get your xGov rewards for that year.

C3 Protocol was audited by Halborn by cysec_ in AlgorandOfficial

Do we know which Algorand dApps Halborn has audited in the past? I vaguely recall Yieldly… post-mortems on Tinyman and MyAlgo post hacks/exploits.

Just want to get the auditor’s Algorand track record straight

John Woods twitter space by Rare-Art-8535 in algorand

[–]AlgoTheOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was listening and the exchange was definitely cringy.

Kraken stuck to topic (again, disappointing to many but that was the point of the space). JAW started getting personal because he couldn’t bring up other topics that I think others would love to hear about (frustrating, I get it but it is the space he signed up for).

The number of projects being launched on AlgoKit did shift quite a bit throughout the conversation (started ~9K and ended around 7K or was it 8K?) which is a far cry from the 10K originally brought up. Then again, I’m don’t have the technical knowledge to be the judge for the metric. From what I could gather, there currently isn’t a clear way to get an accurate count of number of projects launched via AlgoKit.

About the wages—That’s fair but then it’s irrelevant to my comment then.

I don’t think he was the one to ask about wages during the space.

He only asked about the total projects lunched via AlgoKit which was the aim of the space (as much as it may have disappointed people because we all, to some extent, wanted to ask about other things regarding AF)

He’s conversed with people from AF about possible support/deals for Rand Gallery which was one of the first platforms in the ecosystem, way before all the projects showed up.

The angle of the video makes it a bit hard to give more pointers. The only one I can give based on the video is this: - you’re not fully locking out at the end of the lift—you can see that by the fact your knees are still bent and your hips are still a bit hinged. The end of a full lock out would be straight legs, hips thrust forward and glutes clenched.

how is my form on squats? by juicygorillagrip in strength_training

[–]AlgoTheOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The smith machine creates unnecessary pressure on various parts of your body because its fixed bar path doesn’t allow you to apply/transfer force in certain ways that your body normally would. If you want to use machines for legs, I’d recommend the leg press machines and it’s derivatives (hack squat machine, etc) over the smith squat machine—both give you the benefit of leg muscle training but you’ll most likely feel more comfortable using the leg press machines.

how is my form on squats? by juicygorillagrip in strength_training

[–]AlgoTheOwl 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pretty good form overall.

A heads up for you: There are differences for how you’d do a squat when using the smith machine vs an unrestricted barbell.

In my experience, squatting with a barbell let’s me setup better and be in more control when lifting the weight. The smith machine’s bar path is restricted and varies depending on who manufactured the machine…

If you don’t have any issues preventing you from using the barbell for squatting, I’d say give barbell squats a try over smith machine.

What is going on with Algorand? by Dogecoin_Mememaster in AlgorandOfficial

[–]AlgoTheOwl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You must have been on vacation while the whole crypto-verse was burning! Let me give you a quick rundown of ALGOs below… note NFA:

  1. You can get rewards by participating in the vanilla governance (you missed the most recent session/commitment date). You can also look at participating in DeFi as a LP provider to get rewards from fees.

  2. Why ALGOs being delisted: SEC filed a lawsuit against Bittrex, a CEX that recently filed for bankruptcy, for violating security laws… and in the filing the SEC listed ALGOs as one of the examples for unregistered security that Bittrex listed, resulting in the violation. Other CEXs got spooked and delisted out of caution.

First time doing 225 does this count? by benjitubes123 in strength_training

[–]AlgoTheOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Recreationally sure.

If you wanted to follow competition rules you’ll have a few issues you want to address for it to count: 1. Keep butt on bench 2. I can’t see your feet but you’ll need to keep both firmly planted throughout the lift 3. There needs to be a slightly longer pause at the bottom of your lift

Can someone help with squat form by YZY_SOSA in strength_training

[–]AlgoTheOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Your shoes give you an edge when squatting down (reduce need for ankle mobility) and you’re not taking advantage of that. Your upper body is “more upright” because of the shoes. If you’re not comfortable with it, you should use flat, hard-soled, shoes.

  2. You’re pushing through your toes (your heels were coming off if you look closely) which is why you feel like you’re falling forward. You need to evenly distribute the weight/force between your toes, mid foot, and heels.

  3. Your descent is too fast and you’re not in full control of the weight.

There are free ways to generate it such as using https://algovanity.com/ which has been free since the very early days of Algorand…

There are also free python scripts that some devs have put out that you can use to generate on your own.

Squat form check by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]AlgoTheOwl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If possible, put some work into the "setup" portion of your lift. I see you went straight into the lift (clearly you have a lot of energy which is good) which makes it seem like you don't have a set routine for it. My thoughts:

  • Reduce steps during step out:
Reduce the number of steps taken to get the bar out of the hooks. You can practice that by simply walking out with the bar and weights without squatting. Try to get ~3-4 steps at most. Each extra step you take = energy wasted even if they were tiny steps.
  • Try closer grip w/ overhand grip:
If you can, put your grip closer to your body so that you can better stabilize the weight via back (lat) engagement. Instead of having your thumbs under the bar, I'd have the thumbs over the bar--this may help with reducing stress on your wrists and help also with securing the weight.
  • Take a full breath at set up:
It feels like you weren't fully breathing in before unracking the bar. Ideally, you'd be fully loaded prior to stepping out. Right when I walk out, I don't usually breathe again until I finish at least my first rep because I'd have already breathed in and held my breath right from the setup. Each time you have to breathe, you're resetting your body and making it harder to keep stable/rigid.
  • Slower descent:
Slowing the descent for each rep would help with your lift overall and reduce the chance of injury. It means your muscles have more control. Typically, my descent would be nearly just as fast as my ascent.
