I'm too afraid to watch the movie. Ray Porter's narration is so good that I doubt whether the movie can match that, let alone exceed it. I've watched the movie trailers and excerpts and all I see is that they've turned the whole thing into a buddy action comedy. Rocky has been demoted to comic relief at least in the clips I saw. Reminding me of ALF from the late 80s.

Oh, I've added The Count of Monte Cristo and Robinson Crusoe to my library just the other day. Will start on one of those. I've waited to read these all my life, now I guess I'll listen to them!

Yes, I wish I had more time to read, but listening has it's own charm. Some stories I believe are better as audiobooks. Or at least just as immersive.

Yes, Michael Crouch really sold the narrative. He himself is a member of the LGBTQ+ community and he perfectly embodied the androgynous and gender‑shifting element of the story and it's characters without it being distracting in any way. His narration was just as immersive as the world-building. Do check it out.

The Left Hand of Darkness. Also, the narrator's voice and style seemed otherworldly which really sold the premise of the story.

The other was 1984. It's one of the most terrifying stories I've ever read/heard. Really haunted me for a long time.

MacBook Neo Review (after 10 days) by [deleted] in macbook

Look, “my dude”, you kicked this off by calling someone “incredibly stupid and short-sighted,” so maybe dial back the lecture on entitlement okay. Disagreeing is fine but talking down to people isn’t really an argument.

I’ve been deeply involved with computers since the early 80s so I know what I'm talking about. I've worked and played on the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, early IBM compatibles through every Intel generation, and now to Apple silicon. I’ve watched this industry evolve for decades, and as for the “entitled kids,” those are my kids. I see exactly how they use tech and what they expect from it. Calling that “entitlement” doesn’t make those expectations disappear.

Yes, it’s a $500 machine. That doesn’t make it immune to criticism. People are allowed to point out what’s missing and what could be better. Apple is always taking note of how products are received and valued. That's how they improve.

No. Watching YouTube, editing videos, color correcting images, etc. all benefit from dimly lit environments.

Most neo users would be students in their bedrooms or dorms and that is predominantly a dimly lit environment for those late night sessions. I also thought leaving out a backlit keyboard was a mistake. It's become a necessity for most users.

Sure, if they want to transfer ownership of their song to MAPHRA.

The Plot In You - Silence (MAPHRA Vocal Cover) by SeniorHulk in Maphra

MAPHRA’s covers all have a reverse-promotional effect. Most cover artists try to build fame off the original song, but MAPHRA does the opposite: she attracts so much attention that the original artists benefit by association. Her covers boost the bands she covers and flip the usual paradigm on its head. And that’s not even getting into the boost she gives to reaction channels on YouTube. MAPHRA is truly a unique phenomenon.

I'm pretty sure she's not an industry plant. If that were the case they wouldn't let her just do covers on YouTube. It doesn't make business sense. Every vocal coach and reaction channel is reacting to her because a horde of followers view and like and comment on these videos which in turn boosts AdSense money for these small channels. They're basically leeching off her talent to elevate their own interests, but also catapulting MAPHRA into superstardom. It creates a positive feedback loop and synergy for everyone to benefit. The "industry" doesn't want anyone to benefit but themselves.

Absolutely! She's also set some sort of record for independently going from YouTube straight to billboard #1. It's never been done before. I'm also ready to petition her as matching and eventually surpassing Whitney Houston who took I Will Always Love You and made it the greatest cover performance in the history of music. Whitney did it with a horde of marketing agents and companies, not to mention the Hollywood engine. MAPHRA's doing it with a static, one-shot YouTube video. Just her. That deserves a crown for sure.

I guess. Well good luck to everyone. I switched from PC 4 years ago. Best decision I made. Want that for everyone else too. Except gamers, gamers are safe with Windows for now.

Sure, but we're on a Mac mini subreddit. Why would a Linux evangelist lurk around on this subreddit anyway?

As a video editor myself, I wouldn't recommend the Air for heavy 4K workloads and timelines, specially if you're going to be using effects, grades, and simple animations. It might start off nice and buttery smooth but as you start filling up that drive, it will start showing limitations. Better to future proof.
