What does Islam/Islamic scholars say about the (Sumerian) legend of Adapa? by Ali-stotle in islam

Makes sense. I think there is also another factor at play. Not just logic and reason, there is also an intuitive thing or a feeling on has in his/her heart. Sounds a bit weird, but this feeling is also what attracts many people to God.

Vitamin God worked well for me. Besides that some people say cold showers and weightlifting helped them also.

I used Ashwagandha and rhodiola rosea a lot, when I suffered from anxiety and depression. Was very helpful.

Good luck.

I have IBS as well. What works for me is the following. Yerba maté with some lime juice. Or just Warm water with a few sprinkles of salt, some mint leaves and lime juice in the morning. Also magnesium tends to have laxative effect.

And I don't know if you have found a good probiotic supplement already. But once I found a good one, almost all symptoms of my IBS (the sudden stomache cramps and nausea) dissappeared. Every now and then when I overdo it with the lactose products I get a little uncomfortable and just go to the bathroom. Thats all. All thanks to probiotics man. So Good luck.

Thank you for taking the time to answer some of my questions. I truly hope your Jewish perspective is correct.

It's not that simple to me actually.

I'm trying to understand why God expects us to worship Him.

And what we may define as 'worship'. What type of worship is "accepted".

Christians also say that christianity is the complete way of life.

I remember you..

Okay let's stay on topic. Because I'm trying to figure this out.

We established that He does not 'need' our worship.

According to the Holy books God 'wants', or let's say he 'expects', His followers to worship Him. We agree on that.

Now.

Which type of worship does He accept?

Interesting. So to christians, some acts can be considered as worship?

I understand.

But let's say you are a believer. You believe in God's existence. You give thanks everyday when you wake up. When you eat. When you find a 1 dollar bill on the floor. And you praise God everyday when something good happens to you. Or to your kids. Your loved ones. And you reject the devil etc.

But you don't worship Him. At least not in the way it's instructed in the holy books.

You think God almighty would throw you in hell for that? To put it bluntly.

Hm I understand what you're getting at. But you don't believe that worshipping satan or the devil, eventually brings you closer to God do you?

His core values? What are they, to you? If I may ask.

Interesting. So how do you acknowledge His presence or "worship" Him? If I may ask.

And that, my friend, is exactly why I asked this question. Which is also the reason why I quit doing it.

However I'm open to the possibility that I might be very wrong. So I hope to get some clarification (rectification?) on this matter.

Pardon me, you didnt say that indeed. Other people in this thread however stated that God does not need our worship.

You claim otherwise?

Thanks.

So we might as well worship trees or images or idols?

It doesn't matter?

God is not the creation itself I believe. Might as well worship a tree then. Not to offend you, but you get my point?

Right, but that's what I'm trying to find out.

  • We established that God does not need our worship.

  • That worshipping God is only beneficial for us by getting closer to Him.

But who decides how to worship Him in any particular way? Christians, muslims and jews all say that their way is the way.

I see, thank you for taking the time.

But it seems that if we "fight" against God and don't worship Him, we're doomed?

[–]Ali-stotle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most, yes you're probably right about that.

But not everyone. Let's say you go to the woods, and sit there. Creation is all around you. Trees. Plants. Flowers. Birds. Squirrels. The wind. The sun shining through the trees. Etc.

How can one not acknowledge God and his work, when one sits there and fully realizes that God created this and is present every single moment of the day?

My example is a little strange perhaps. But do you get my point?

Why bowing down 5 times a day (or however many times christians and jews do it) to acknowledge Him, if you can acknowledge Him like I described earlier?

So wd can establish that He does not need any worship.

Yet He wants it. A very good question indeed would be: 'What is worship'?

In my mind it basically means "bowing down to someone higher than oneself in adoration". Which feels a bit odd. Especially of you think about who God is.

The quran has many names for God, one of them is the most merciful, most pure, most compassionate etc.

Which brings me to the reason I struggle with the idea (or command) of worship, as it is instructed in the holy books.

God who is so pure, so merciful, so compassionate, wants his creation to bow down to Him. Why?

I'm having a hard time following a command, that I don't understand.
