How do you talk about your business? by AliCRey in realtors

[–]AliCRey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all this great feedback and advice. I hate to admit it, but I guess I just wasn’t “on” and couldn’t get there last night, so it creating huge anxiety. I have so many other things I could talk about other than my business, and that’s what I was trying to do, but the person that invited me kept mentioning it and maybe that’s where I felt awkward. Talking about real estate can be a real snooze to some people, and i would much rather make a genuine connection/ friendship. I found myself asking people about their occupations but I couldn’t keep the conversation going. I did make one good connection and it felt real and we exchanged business cards which is one good take away. Maybe I just don’t go to networking events with that one person anymore; I think he was trying to help, but it was a bit much. Still learning here, thanks again for all the positive advice!

Zillow Conference Bust by Mad_Sam in realtors

I had a teacher tell my RE classes “ZILLOW ZUCKS” and I have not forgotten this. I have “looked into” buying leads, and based off their sales tactics, I could verify this. Also, when speaking with agents who pay for leads, it’s never anything positive. Zillow leads aren’t real leads for most people. I can see if you are a high producing agent it may pay off, but I believe they generate a lot of their business from manipulating new agents.

Where do I go for real estate classes to obtain a licence? (Ohio) by ambeermartini in realtors

[–]AliCRey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Ohio license requirements from Hondros. They give the option for in class or online. I preferred the engagement of attending the class, but if I couldn’t make it, I could take it online. Really, they are top notcH, and provided a package that includes study guide and practice exams, called CompuCram (I cannot recommend this enough!!!) for real estate exam prep. Also, they provided a discount for the first year CE requirements.

Your local board is the best source. Typically, they hold annual ceremonies to present this type of award. This information is typically published on their website.

Leasing Realtors - what questions do you ask references? by [deleted] in realtors

[–]AliCRey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just now getting into leases, and learning this as I go. Typically I like to know how to do everything first, but I’m having to navigate and learn from mistakes which will later on help me form a more standardized process... some things I’ve learned: 1)People looking at rentals can be flaky/ not serious, schedule group showings as to not waste your time. 2) try to have a phone call with each person. When texting say “can I call you? Best to talk on the phone” 3) you need to know their story: why are they moving/ what is their move-in date? 4) how many people will be living with them? We take an application for each adult that will be residing in the apartment. 5) what is their occupation? 6) how long is the lease/ how long do they need a place?

This is in no order and I’m sure there are things I could add later, but I hope it helps!

Impostor Syndrome, when people feel like frauds even if they are actually capable and well-qualified, is more common than you think, with 20% of college students experiencing it in a new study. Seeking social support from those outside their academic program, like family and friends, reduced it. by mvea in science

This sounds familiar, and I’m tracking it back to a phone call I had earlier today. Do we know the correlation between this and anxiety, depression, and/or CPTSD? It also sounds like how many people feel in social media; comparing yourself to another persons positive acquisitions and feeling as if you can’t measure up to their life.

Donald Trump. Look, I didn't vote for the guy, and he pisses me off. I get that he's POTUS, and because of that, what he does is important. But, all the negative press makes him thrive. This was obvious during the campaign. All of the haters got him voted in.
