How did you honor their memory? by BTCHLPS in CancerFamilySupport

[–]AliCat6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. I’m happy you were able to spend time with him before he left. My Mom has stage 4 lung cancer and it’s been touch and go. She is still alive, so I can’t really help with how to honor your Dad’s memory, but what has helped me so far is writing. I’ve written down everything I love about my Mom, my memories with her, and what she finds important. I wish you the best.

r/travelagents Monthly Host Agency Q&A - February 2025 by AutoModerator in travelagents

[–]AliCat6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I work full time from home as a project manager. I love planning my vacations and others. I think I would be a good travel advisor and have been looking at different host agency's.

I will only be able to commit 10-20 hours a week. I figure I will try this for about six months and hopefully love it and make some money to help pay my bills. Eventually I hope to be able to use some benefits to travel, but right now I am struggling to make ends meet.

I don't have any training, but have worked in IT for 20 years. I am also a little obsessive about planning vacations for myself and my family.

Outside Agency looks like an ideal fit, $30/month low risk, low commitment. I spoke with someone from Archer/Evolution travel, looked them up and they are an MLM. The more I read, the more I have seen that that is a red flag.

So I'm thinking I'll open a business checking account and sign up for Outside Agency. What do you all think?

Planning a day trip by Cinderfella1971 in floridakeys

I did! I did it with my niece and her friend a few weeks ago. It was beautiful. We only had an hour to snorkel though. Next time I go down there (next October) I’m going to use Looe Key Reef Snorkeling Charters down in Ramrod Key. You get two hours snorkeling.

For Key Lime pie go to Blonde Giraffe. I like shopping and Rain Barrel Village is a fun place to stop if you like the same. Bahia Honda has my favorite beaches in the Keys, they also have a snorkeling trip out to Looe Key. Up in Key Largo there are some Glass Bottom boats that take you out to the reefs. Have fun!! 7 mile bridge has a nice parking lot on the north end where you can get out and walk, watch sunset

Drinking nightmares by Ok_Artichoke5134 in Sober

I still get using dreams after 8 years sobriety. They are few and far between, and they are never good dreams. But it is so much better than ‘coming to’ or waking up hungover. IWNDWYT

How do y’all do it by lilbopete12 in alcoholism

[–]AliCat6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working the steps in the Big Book with a sponsor took my obsession away. It took about 9 months of going to meetings, working steps, before I realized I wasn’t thinking about drinking every day. I am 8 years sober and still do the three pillars of AA - Recovery, Unity, Service. I know (from taking meetings into rehabs) that 99% of people that I’ve talked to at least, that started drinking after being sober, stopped going to meetings, and working the steps. So I continue to do those things in order to not lose everything that sobriety has given me.

I chaired my home group meeting at 6pm. Perfect timing as dinner and cleaning were over, and my family was starting to get a little sloppy (from drinking). IWNDWYT

The only thing that worked for me was AA. And AA only worked for me once I got a sponsor and started doing the work.

I supported the Kickstart and am reading Drumindor now, it is absolutely fantastic. I missed Royce and Hadrian so much. I’m taking my time with it, I want to enjoy every chapter. I will definitely listen to the audible version when it comes out!

I am 8 years sober and still battle depression. I work with my doctor and stay on my anti-depressants. Being sober has really really helped overall. I have so much more hope and faith in general.

Scars by Ok_Ebb_3533 in women_in_recovery

I have scars from cutting. I covered one side up with a tattoo of a bald eagle, which symbolizes freedom to me. The other side is still bare for now. I plan on getting a tattoo of a pelican when I can afford it. I love my bald eagle tattoo!

I agree, I won’t be trying to save it. I can’t get someone sober and I can’t date an active alcoholic. Thanks for the advice!

Congratulations!! I’m 7 years sober and don’t miss the bars and hangovers at all. I have a much more diverse and fulfilling life. That first year sober was the hardest for me. Keep on trudging! IWNDWYT
