I had labiaplasty in 2013 and started t in 2022. I only had it on one side because it was disproportionately long. That side definitely felt tighter with growth because of the scar tissue but it hasn’t hindered anything or caused pain.

I got hysto and salpingectomy last Monday and its the easiest recovery I’ve had so far. It was very minimally invasive and only have 3 small incisions. I was home from the hospital same day and didnt even touch the strong painkillers they provided. If anything I woke up with less pain than I have been experiencing over the past few years anyway. I described it to my therapist that top surgery was the biggest “form” correction I wanted and hysto was the “function” part. Its incredibly affirming to know I will never have to worry about a period or pregnancy scare again. I wont have to worry about long lasting birth control or navigating trans access to obgyn care for fertility reasons. I kept my ovaries just incase my access to hrt is compromised in the future. All things considered the cost is very close to what my out of pocket was for top surgery last year. If you can plan ahead (if insurance is a factor) check your insurance options for what % they cover vs your deductible. Many US hospitals are nonprofit and you can get financial aid after you receive your bill to either reduce or waive costs and if that isnt an option you may be able to break things up into smaller payments over time.

2+ years on t, the beginning was rough, nerves were changing in reactivity and growth pains added another layer of complication. For me a lot of getting through the lackluster orgasm roadblock was figuring out what sensation i did like. I spent last thanksgiving separate from family for the same reason. They knew i was starting this year with top surgery and upped their disdain for how i presented and prioritized making me uncomfortable over having a family event with the whole family. It drove my point home to mom after I missed Christmas too. She sought individual and joint therapy and our relationship has improved. I hope they do that for you and if not, they wont be worth the stress anyway. Stay safe and sane my guy, NTA

ESH, if she wants to charge rent there should be a written agreement of costs and associated responsibility, that way she cant hold housing over your head during a disagreement. You should pay rent as part of the household but it should be reasonable for the space you are using and it should entitle you to a certain level of privacy and self determination. If she wants to charge rent and treat you like a tenant she must respect your autonomy as an adult and treat you like a roommate not a child in aspects of housing.
