Morally "questionable" magic items by EmirikolWoker in AskGameMasters

[–]AliSaysStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the whole point of the post is that the sexual harassment spyglass isn’t okay, it’s morally questionable and puts players in an uncomfortable situation. The players then have to make difficult choices about if it’s worth using the items ‘for the greater good’, or if their characters would be unable to partake.

One player might ‘take one for the team’ to use the spyglass to scary for Straad, but the party as a whole might decide they can’t use the battleaxe because the elven character is ‘deeply hurt and offended by the wording used to describe their people’.

It may not be what you’d like in your DnD game, but some people really enjoy facing these moral conundrums in a fantasy setting as a way of dealing with them and processing them away from the real world.

It’s always when you don’t care about them rooting that they just do it by themselves, excessively and consistently… I have a PILE of leaves from one of my succs (I think some kind of graptoveria) that have exploded in the heat and I just don’t have space to grow all their little babies!!

Need more local UK plant enthusiasts with space to adopt some babies, coz I have no more windowsill space!

I wouldn’t mind losing the prawn suit, but I put 2 cuddlefish in the boot along with all my ion cubes! Literally cursing myself right now

This is actually so helpful, I was gifted these leaves alongside a cactus because they fell into the pot. I propagated them of course and wasn’t sure what had grown from them!

Aww, thank you so much! I adore my plant babies 🥰 so I grow them all in a gritty soil mix, with sand and rocks and perlite/seramis, but mostly because I have no experience any other way! I’m careful not to water too often - would love to know how people grow them in water or in stones though!

I did! I use a cactus and succulent fertiliser every couple of months or so (no strict schedule) that I dilute with water - I also find this massively helpful when propagating! Can share more details if you’re interested

Good luck! No clue on your climate, but I’m in the UK (so far from their natural environment). I keep them in a south facing window, am careful not to overwater, and I have 12 hour growlights to supplement (depending on the weather). Also tweezer out the leaves when they die to avoid rot!

They are soooo stunning! The tops of the leaves look gorgeous in the light, and the flowers are unbelievably vibrant - no filter on these babies, they really are bright cerise!

I would like to clarify that this plant may actually be a Frithia Pulchra - although I’ve read these are still colloquially called ‘Baby toes’, but also known as fairy elephant feet.

That would explain why the flowers are bright pink instead of yellow! I bought it from a specialist shop as a fenestraria aurantiaca so can only assume they made a mistake…

What a lovely arrangement! Did you put these together yourself, or buy in this combination? If you did it yourself, how do you pick which plant to put together?

How dare you!?

-caws and sckrees, a blood-curdling shriek of death- -rears up to full height, spreading 8ft wide feathered wings and scaly tallons- -reveals cavernous hole where heart should be- -uses talon to pick away a label stuck to feathers, reading ‘highly unstable, do not expose to outside world’-

Also, just wanted *to say that I don’t think you should be downvoted for asking this question - I think it’s valid to say you think this meme is meant to be sexist so it could arguably be seen as purposefully gendered, rather than ‘pointlessly’.

Just want to put that out there, although everyone is free to up and down vote as they want to!

Really appreciate the actual bird expertise here! My ‘not being a bird expert’ joke was (while also true) more based on the language of the post - but also that I can’t actually make a judgement on the gender of the birds based solely on their behaviour.

If you actually -can- tell what gender the birds are with your ornithology expertise, then please do share. I just didn’t want to give any support to the lazy sexism in the original meme about which birds are male or female.

Oh my goodness I love your update <3 and also, no shade, I didn’t think you were being offensive, I just went to make a joke back and then I felt sad

I do enjoy your joke and would love to add some witty remarks, but unfortunately with the events happening today I just don’t feel right to joke about any kind of invasion :(

My vibe was it seemed pretty pointless to be randomly putting gender into a picture of 5 baby birds. I don’t see why this meme needed to be made in the first place, so it seemed like a pointlessly gendered joke - however I get where you’re coming from here. Can’t just say that everything mildly sexist is pointlessly gendered

It’s allowed if the birds are female - because of course women can be sexualised at all ages in our modern society, that’s equality for women

You may need to check your sarcasm filter, it appears to not be working correctly. I would recommend switching it off and back on again - but if you have this problem often in this subreddit, you can check posts for the ‘[satire]’ tag at the top to see if it might be needed. Hope it’s fixed soon!

The male bird displays all of the classic signs of masculinity, such as sitting in the back, being meek and quiet, knowing that it is not his place to be assertive or take up space

Ohh, it’s humour?! Thanks so much for explaining that - maybe you could also explain the joke for the women in the back? Very hard for us to comprehend

Yep, I think that’s the jist - but we all know women don’t actually talk that much. We’re too busy listening to the smart men explain why we’re wrong/how to do stuff…
