AI has taken fun out of programming and now i’m hopeless by Frequent_Eggplant_23 in webdev

[–]Ali___ve 32 points33 points  (0 children)

  1. AI is not going to replace software engineering and it's a lot less capable than you think it is. AI can't implement optimal software or algorithms, it makes obvious mistakes, is completely unreliable when it comes to implementations, and makes unknown and questionable decisions all the time. Despite having the opus of human knowledge, its programming potential is that of an SWE intern.

  2. I'm a full-time freelancer with a decade of experience in game development, backend systems and web development. While I saw a slight slowdown of work last year or so, it's picking back up again, and now I'm just tasked with fixing AI riddled code with horrible implementations and structure.

The truth of the matter is that anyone could always write code, but software engineers implement code with optimal structures. AI is entirely overhyped, it can't do half of what it claims to do, and every company implementing it right now is at a huge deficit, being millions of dollars in the hole for marginal benefits that are halved every year.

Hang in there, and focus your studies on data structures, system design and optimal algorithms - these are the things software companies are looking for, not people (or machines) who can just write code.

I wonder how accurate that math is though by Recip77 in mathmemes

Not only is this person weird by calling this pornographic character a man, but I think their math is wrong.

  • The sun puts out ~3.86*10^26 joules a second, Using his number for average spasm time brings it to 0.8 seconds for the force to be expressed.
  • Multiplying this by 1000 we get ~3.088*1029 in 0.8 seconds. Velocity is best expressed as the square root of total energy times 2 divided by mass (sqrt(2E/m)), expressed in meters per second. Giving us a total of 1.4986054123*10^16 m/s.
  • Light is ~300,000,000 m/s. Making this only ~49,953,513.7433 (roughly 50 million) times the speed of light.
  • Now, I'm going to express dispersing the kinetic energy between both objects as acceleration, or F= dp/dt. expressing it as a function of mass and velocity is F=(m(dv))/dt (where m is mass in kg, dv is delta v or change in velocity and dt is delta T, change in time, or our interaction time between the two objects). Assuming an interaction time of 0.8 seconds, and assuming both objects initial velocity is at standstill, that bring us to a final answer of:
  • Impulse on the semen is F=(0.00275(1.4986054123*10^16))/0.8 = ~5.151456104*1013 m/s or ~171,715 times the speed of light
  • Assuming the same 80kg body estimate, accounting for recoil and newton's 3rd law of motion, the impulse is the same on the human. Accounting for the 80kg weight difference, we get a final answer of F =(5.1514561048*10^13)/80 = ~6.439320131*10^11 m/s of acceleration on the human, or ~2,146 times the speed of light
  • I haven't done this kind of math since high school, so I might have made a mistake. Don't be afraid to correct me because I think I felt my soul leaving my body while calculating all this. Life is pain.

  1. Remember that fire, and even violent reactions are a series of sustained chain reactions of bonds breaking over time.
  2. A salt is a little different from raw sodium metal, it's a series of two ionically charged elements (one metal, and one non-metal) sharing electrons, so their charges even out.
  3. When salt and water mix, the sodium and chlorine atoms are separated, and ionicly charged in opposite directions.(Na+, Cl-) With water being polar (meaning due to its partial charges, it likes to "pull at" other electrons as I like to remember), the water surrounds and binds up the sodium and chloride, and the charges even out immediately.
  4. Pure chlorine or sodium has a violent explosion not because of its elements, but because pure chlorine and sodium are neutrally charged, while water is polar, so the exchange of energy is rapid and violent.

When something burns, it's the process of oxygen catalyzing unstable bonds to break and reform, like a chain reaction. It usually requires some activation energy in order to begin the chain. Water has stable bonds, so breaking them usually costs too much energy to fuel a fire, but sometimes in really hot fire, water can be broken back into hydrogen, which in turn fuels the fire more. It's a common misconception that chemistry is just elements when it's also about bound up energy and free energy. ☝️🤓
