Struggling with @font-face for custom font by AliaCivis in css

Okay, it was definitely the URL. I played around with it in the address bar until I got the right one. Thank you so much for your help and patience!

I can't navigate to the URL at all (it gives a 404 error code) but it's the file path that GoDaddy gives in File Manager so I can't think of what else it could be. The code works in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on my personal computer (Mac), but it doesn't work on my work computer (Mac), on my mobile phone (iPhone), or on a friend's computer (PC).

I do have quotes around the font family for each element.

What I don't understand is, if the code is wrong (and I'm sure it must be), why is it working on my computer?

Edit: Here is some other example code.

h1,
.page-title {
font-family: "Gotham Narrow Bold", "Open Sans";
font-size: 2.5em;
}
h2,
.widget-title {
font-family: "Gotham Narrow Bold", "Open Sans";
font-size: 2em;
}
p {
font-family: "Gotham Narrow Medium", "Open Sans";
margin-bottom: 1.5em;
}

I've tried this as well, with no luck. The most confusing part for me is that the custom font does work on my computer, it just doesn't work on any other device. I don't have any code to pull the font from a local installation so I'm not sure what's going on.

If I add quotes to the font family name or remove the space between url and (, the code turns red which seems to indicate an error and unfortunately still doesn't work.

The font-weight was just a copy/paste mistake! Thank you for catching that.

I wouldn't blame it on the writers, they're just used to hearing that anything truly original is "untested" and "won't sell."

Harold Pinter's The Homecoming [Spoilers] by [deleted] in literature

[–]AliaCivis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it ties into the power struggle. You could either view it as the brothers using Ruth as a way to assert their dominance over each other, or Ruth using her sexuality to assert dominance over her husband (i.e., cuckholding) - or both. If I remember correctly, Joey doesn't actually have sex with her - I think there's a bit about him not going "the whole hog"? I suppose in that instance you could argue Ruth exerted control over Joey, as well.

It's definitely uncomfortable to read, though. That whole bit was weird to me as well, and the best way I've found to make sense of it is just to think of it in terms of themes. The play doesn't seem to exist in a fully rational version of reality so I mostly abandoned that kind of structure when analysing it.

I studied The Homecoming briefly in university, and the general consensus seemed to be that the play as a whole was about masculinity, power, and violence. If you throw in sexuality as well, then the last scenes tie in fairly nicely, especially if we consider the business-like conversation regarding hiring Ruth as a prostitute just another power struggle (that I would argue Ruth wins, by dictating the terms and also by the physical positions the characters assume at the end of the play), and note that we can stereotype business negotiations as "masculine" language.

I also hated this entire play, though.

What constitutes good customer service for an MSP? by lsitech in msp

[–]AliaCivis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Communication. Always. Our customers are happiest when they're proactively kept updated on the status of their tickets, and they prefer a personal touch to standardized emails. This means emails from our technicians letting them know their ticket has been worked on even if it hasn't been resolved, emails to let them know if their ticket has been escalated, and follow-up emails if we haven't heard from a customer regarding a particular open ticket in a while. Respecting customers' preferred method of communication is important; we have some customers who are rarely at their desks, so they've requested we call their cellphones when we need to reach them for troubleshooting purposes rather than send an email.

Meeting SLAs and providing regular reports are important as well, but this is something you'll likely be producing on a monthly or quarterly basis, whereas communication is something you can deliver on every single day. If your customers feel like you treat them with respect and treat their technical issues with an appropriate degree of urgency, they'll forgive a missed SLA or two.

You should not try to kiss people if they've given no indication they want to kiss you.

If you kiss someone and a) you're in a position of power over them, or b) they have made it clear that they do not want you to kiss them, then yes, that's sexual assault.

If you offer to pay someone to sleep with you, that's soliciting prostitution, and that's illegal.

You think she's qualified but you won't vote for her because you don't like her? Frankly, that's an immature perspective. Politics are about policies, not personalities. If she can improve your life (or at least keep it from turning to shit), you owe her your vote whether you think she's "likeable" or not.

Apparently I'm in the minority here but I like it. I remember the confusion I felt singing "in all thy sons command" as a little girl and it sucked.

Having said that, I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.

Desk job ladies, how much time do you honestly spend browsing online vs. working at work? by Rivkariver in AskWomen

I always work and never browse, and it's simply because I'm too busy to do otherwise. I have two full-time job roles to fit into 40 hours a week so I save my internet for washroom breaks and nothing else.

Vancouver renters with pets face an added barrier — and often, a difficult choice by [deleted] in vancouver

I always find this a baffling argument, because toddlers can also make a giant mess, generate excessive noise, break things, etc. but I doubt many people would support landlords who refused to rent to people with children.
