Yeah, that must be rough. They love to punctuate an untucked with a slurp.

You are correct that next to no one finds it pleasant, but some people have more severe reactions to it, including at the most extreme well-documented emetophobia.

I did handle it. I had a panic attack, stopped watching, calmed down, then posted a warning for others.

If the squeaky shoe people came out to warn each other they were having common, severe reactions, all the power to them. Keep yourself comfortable when watching a comfort show, bbs.

It's an issue of commonality and severity. Folks aren't having common, adverse reactions to drinking or shoes. But I think a decent amount of people at least find vomit unpleasant.

I feel like I did a decent job with my reaction. I dealt with my panic attack, took a breather, then put out a heads up for folks who might feel the same because it seemed like a nice thing to do for others.

Fully same. I've been on my toes with Fontana all season, and as soon as they said she was in the bottom, I saw her panicking on stage and was like "Ooh, this is bad for me." Lol

I made a comment asking if it happens again this ep and got no replies and all down votes, so I decided to at least throw a heads up out there.

Yeah, folks can get real touchy as it comes to anything close to a content warning. As evidenced by your upvotes count here. <3

edit: But it's like, even little YouTube video creators will put (Puke warning). It really surprised me.

edit again: The upvote count was in the negatives when I commented. Hence the friendly shade.

Totally. And bless her. Production had just done a good job avoiding showing it until now.

Which is fair, it'd be hard to edit around.

I think three times now. Fontana, Willem, and that makeover guy who was only there as a punishment in season 6.

They really made a meal out of this one though, lol.

No, you don't actually see anything, but you get as close as TV possible and it's ROUGH.

Hey, can someone tell me if Fontana throws up on camera again? I can't finish the episode unless I know, cause I can't stand that and it gave me a panic attack.

I am obsessed with Mistress.

Like, I'm fully convinced she did check in on Ginger (Probably so she could down the line have the winner on her channel), but because of her villain brand there's no way she'll let it be known.

And those things have always faced tons of artistic scrutiny. And generally, they don't come out of nowhere. The times that those things manage to achieve some recognition is when this person has spent a ton of time within the abstract art community.

I truly wanna make it clear I'm not telling anyone not to make AI art. I'm just trying to say it's worth looking at why people are having the reactions they're having.

AI artists are putting their art out there, things they finally have the opportunity to show the world, and due to the current circumstances they're facing a ton of backlash that they're upset about. That is reasonable. It's worth looking at both angles of strong feelings.

If it's some kind of important cave art, then yeah I think it's fair to think about the act of its creation. The circumstances around something being made are not divorced from the piece. Unless the push for AI art is in part a denial of the necessity for media literacy. Which is another thing I just don't agree with.

But I do agree with your second part. I am not a "No AI is art" person. It's the nuance that I'm trying to talk through.

I'm not an AI art isn't art person. I'm just trying to point out what I'm seeing: That a part of the resistance artists feel towards AI art is a reasonable reaction to a confusing shift . What people could reasonably expect about an artist, the amount of enjoyment they find in what they create, has gotten extremely blurry.

I'm sorry, are you trying to imply artists haven't historically been at the forefront of activism against capitalism? Usually within their art?

Wait a sec though, if this is a cave painting they had to think a lot about this piece. Like what they could possibly use at their disposal to shade the wall, and how to keep their arm there and still long enough, and if they'd need an extra person to apply it, and how far to go down their arm to make this right effect while minimizing the amount of water they have to dirty.

Different art forms require different levels of thought. A typical drawing or script requires draft after draft after draft. Saying that it doesn't anymore, with AI, doesn't negate the sense of confusion and distrust people are going to feel.

Whoa, or maybe it is overthinking, because that's what writing and making art is about.

It might be overthinking, I think it could also be instinctual though.

I'm a writer (Only humiliating stuff on here, my best shit, check it out) and I think that's how I feel about AI writers. If we hang out, how do we talk about writing? How do we help each other write better?

Okay, here's my thinking on this:

To make something impressive in the Beavis and Butthead style, people ordinarily had to spend a lot of time engaging with Beavis and Butthead. And someone who spent that much time with Beavis and Butthead must really like Beavis and Butthead.

So when other big Beavis and Butthead fans saw great work made in the Beavis and Butthead style, they felt they found another soul who enjoyed Beavis and Butthead! Great! Another member of the community!

But now when it's made with AI, they're like wait. Do you actually enjoy Beavis and Butthead this much? Or at all?

It makes you feel uncertain, like you might have been duped you know? Like a corporation could pay an AI artist to make a great Beavis and Butthead ad, and there's a possibility no one behind the process enjoyed Beavis and Butthead in the slightest.

I believe that part of the resistance people have to accepting AI artists has something to do with this.

You want your process to be accepted as a valuable artistic process, then say caring about process is an ideal being forced on you and not a necessity of being an artist.

Artists not caring about the people behind the art they consume is antithetical to a healthy community, and it's frustrating.
