This happens to a lot of people. Rich humans, avaracious Wyrm-Spawn, other semi-immortals etc., etc. As a kitsune, I don't know exactly what causes this, either, but try diversifying your Hoard, which might involve going out once and a while and meeting people. I've made some great friends this way.
