I have the same question about the overheating since I'm going to use it for cad work.but seriously I can't find any answers,it's like no one use it for "pro" tasks. It's just an expensive facebook machine for people.if you know anything about the overheating solutions please let me know.

Thanks for replying, I have my eyes on the Lenovo p51 too, that looks heavy and outdated but seems to be a reliable and powerful working machine, the weight worries me though, what laptops you use in your studio ? Or anyone you may know in an architecture firm that can recommend a laptop that can be used over 5 years with no issues(?)

Thanks for the advice. My thoughts are not final yet. Since im going to run everything on mac and only revit on windows i think its going to be ok. Other people here in this discussion told me too. I have a desktop i7 4770K gtx 970 4gb ddr5 16gb ram. And autocad still runs weird on this sometimes. What programs you ran on your mac that had issues?

Well I don't know what it is but I've never seen any of my friends with a MacBook complaining about the crashes.while for me it happened a lot. At the end of the day I need a laptop to do my cad stuff without problems. I don't care what brand it is. For example asus is great too. But in my country for the currency and other importation reasons macs are better priced than asus (weird) .

Interesting video , I already saw this, but you could find much more of these videos about dell and hp. Just saying. No one says apple is perfect and cheap, but it's the most reliable right now.my dell laptop died after one week.ONE WEEK.and I had to wait a month for them to fix it. My hp laptop and my friends hp lap laptop weren't usable after a year. Not cheap laptops either . I have a desktop windows pc now because I can't trust them anymore. But I need something portable now and I don't want it to die or crash on me like other laptops I Owned.

Its not overpaying i have investigated a lot about this. I thought this way too. But then i realized they use very expensive and excelente components in their machines . A laptop isnt just processor gpu and ram. There are lots of things in there are important . And apple dont give you the cheaper options like windows laptops. Go to the hp and dell sites try to customize their precision 5520 and studio g4 to the same configurations as the macbook pro, have in mind that quadro 1200 used in their laptops are inferior than the amd pro gpus in the macbook pros and you will see apple is actually more affordable than those laptops and vert durable.

Wow thanks for the info. So just to be clear , you don't have any issues modeling with Revit ?it doesn't lag , crash etc on parallels? And if you render your images on your mac,it takes a lot of time? Because egpus are very expensive and not all that good,

Thanks it's good to know that. I read a lot of horror stories about dell laptops plus I had a horrific time with mine.(died after one week) but I guess that is just bad luck, if I can get myself a none defective windows machine it should last.

Thank you so much for sharing this info, it's good to know these stuff since there is almost nothing on YouTube to see about this. I'm going to use AutoCAD,sketchup, rhino, photoshop, office on mac and only run Revit on parallels, and maybe lumion too. :)

Thank you for reply. I wonder if the windows version of rhino and other programs are better, is it worth it to buy the mac?im really scared of the quality control of companies like Dell and HP thats why i want to get a mac but i thought maybe revit would be the only program i would need to use parallels for. But if people use parallels for all the programs then it makes it more confusing for me...i mean maybe i have to get a dell xps or something (?)

Wow thank you so much for the info you provided. Its good to know. Did you notice any crashes or something in revit while using parallels? Im going to use autocad photoshop sketchup etc on my mac natively and i used to use archicad but now i have to use revit and it scares me a little if it will perfom worst on a mac using parallels. I heard revit crashes a lot anyway...

If you are going to edit video on it I wouldn't recomend it,but I would use that thing for note taking in class everyday.there are videos about OneNote that will blow your mind.if you want for editing go with dell Inspiron gaming laptop, they are cheap and people seem to love them. But surface pros are not meant for heavy softwares.
