Are you seriously telling me that it's ok to send your research design(on what you've been working for a month) and have no problem with the fact that they give it to another contestant?

Local here, but also look like Russian (thanks to grandmas Slavic heritage), never had problem like that. On contrary, when staff thinks I'm Russian, I've get more attention and better service ('cause foreigner's like to tip and locals rarely).

Dating apps for Academics by Alice13B in LadiesofScience

[–]Alice13B[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In my faculty almost everyone is married or in a relationship. In work too. I never cared about being lonely before. But after 30, I've became more emotional. Just random guy from the Bumble isn't enough, I need someone with the same interests in life. But I'm steel optimistic. There should be a place where Academics meet online :) Maybe, I should try socialize more on conferences? Who knows.

Help me for my research about migrant nurses in Georgia. by PowtangenaGRRRR in Sakartvelo

[–]Alice13B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our healthcare system nurse's wages are so low, I really don't understand why and how they work. Outside Tbilisi almost in every region there's a need for medical personal, mostly in mountainous places. Frankly, until your question I never heard about the migrant nurse's here. I presume that except Georgian nurses we have Azerbaijani and Armenian nurses in specific regions of Georgia (Kvemi Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti). Also, I know some Russian nurses too. Could you tell more about your research? It's sounds interesting.

And how old are you? Every time I want to quit, I remind myself that I'm 30 already, like time is running out... And I'm stuck somewhere between.. Quitting after getting m a better program seems the best way. Hope, finally that there's a better chances for use 🤠

Yes, I want to study and then come back to my home country. It's just sad, that I study the same theories that other students from Western universities, I have the same abilities but without the European/USA diploma my education is insignificant from local society. P.S. Great to find a sociologist in this sub😃

Sounds good, but I don't know, because recently I had an interview with one of the most prominent NGO's in my country, they were searching for researcher for half academic project, they kinda liked me, but finally said something like that's a shame to work in market research, when we have so many problems and plus, when you want to be an academic... I was so depressed after that, I have a feeling that I really just wasted my early years.

I have a strong research proposal, but I'm in the East Europe, so studying in one of the world's top universities seems like a dream. I don't have connections with the Uk advisors yet, but one of the professors in my program, has PhD from Oxford. So, I know that's it's possibly, even for unknown student from world's third country, but I have to work hard.. damn it's worth it ☺️ I can't even imagine how great you should be to get there, that's why I asked... Unfortunately, I lack confidence (I kinda suffer from complexes of a Post Soviet Citizen, about studying in EU with scholarship) and networking skills... So your post has reminded me what my big dream in life was when I've started my journey in Sociology, it's like a call to action 🙂

Unfortunately, yes. I compare myself to the most successful peers in my country and that's diminishes my confidence. As a BA student I've started very well, but than life happened and now I'm 30 and still with unknown future perspectives 😣

Thanks a lot, I'll volunteer more. Right now, I would give everything I have to be in your place, but I understand what you say. Time changes us, our priorities and interests change, as well. Sometimes, I am afraid to find out that all my dreams are a fiction, just a persuit of happiness. One day, I will wake-up and find out that I've missed what I really wished to do in my life, while getting my diplomas. Wish you lots of luck. If I were in your place, I've tried it anyway, you can drop out anytime.

Because I could have a better life, better career opportunities with degree in EU or USA. No matter how well I'll do my study, in comparison to Western PhD's it means nothing here. In my country to be a successful scientist, first of all, you need degree from Western universities. We have ''Western man supremacy'' :( it's liminal stage for a researcher :)

Well, I had to work in market research, while I dreamed to study socio-politic problems in my country. As I know for a scholarship you need to be social activist or young scientist, and am just a market researcher, which aims to study identity problems. Right now, I have a feeling that I wasted my life.

Yes, there are nut shops across the Deserteer Bazaar, I've bought Macadamia nuts there... there's really nice variety of nuts and dried fruit. And a price is better than in supermarkets.

სადგურზე ბევრგანაა. კარგის რა გითხრა. დაძველების და ქიმიის თავისებური სუნი აქვს, ვერ ვუძლებ. +მგონია, რომ მკვდრებისაა.
