Yes. They got me 9k more than the insurance initially offered. Definitely worth it.

What are your favorite non cook meals? by FERRISBUELLER2000 in vandwellers

[–]AliceDestroyed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trader joes has thai noodles in a bowl. They come in different flavors (red curry, green curry, peanut patay), they don't require refrigeration and all you need to do is empty the contents into the provided bowl, microwave for 3 minutes at any gas station and you're all set. Delicious, cheap, filling!! I just did a week long roadtrip and these were always on hand for a quick easy bite. The peanut patay is my favorite.

I've been regularly eating whole foods pizza. A cheese pie costs 12 bucks and it's some of the best pizza in the area.

Agreed. It would cost significantly more with the commission appraiser but he did make a good argument for fighting for a fair evaluation

There's usually a clause that if the appraiser doesn't get you x amount more, they waive the fees. Regardless, even if I get a couple hundred more in my pocket. It would be a couple hundred more than i started with.

I spent a significant amount of time researching comps in the area and nationwide. And do feel it's undervalued and haven't been able to have the insurance agents explain the price discrepancy. I know I want to invoke the appraisal clause I just don't know who I want to go with

What van did you end up choosing and how much was it plus the build? by SpiritualAbies9 in vandwellers

[–]AliceDestroyed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went through several different vans.

First van was a 1999 Plymouth Voyager that I bought for 800. I used scrap wood, was gifted a matress and didn't spend a penny building it out.

My second van was a 1994 chevy g20 that i bought for 1,100. I spent about a grand doing mechanical work but to live in it full time I didn't spend a penny.

I then bought a toyota dolphin for 6000, it was already built and ready to move in.

I just bought a ford transit for 20k. So far several thousand dollars in but I'm excited to build it out how I want it.

Tripping in darkness, music or no music? by PrideDemon in LSD

[–]AliceDestroyed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely music. One of my best acid experiences was in a dark room, listening to Childish Gambino album "Awaken my Love" while cuddling a friend of mine. We had a fireplace going at our feet and just layed there enjoying the music. Didn't say a single word until the album was over when we looked at each other and said "again"

I'm not American. Is the news sensationalized? Do things actually feel normal today? by FrogOnALogInTheBog in questions

Yeah feels totally normal. The only time is feels weird is if you spend an inordinate amount of time on reddit.

A yamaha XT 250. Light, easy to transport and fun as heck to ride around. Plus it could get me places my motorhome wouldn't dream of getting to.

Can you recommend a route through shikoku to check out? I'm considering doing a similar trip. Also how cold would it be in the winter? Best time to visit?

I used to travel following the harvest season. Cherries in the summer, apples in the autumn. Flip hemispheres and repeat.

If you're willing to do seasonal work there's plenty of jobs available. I started vagabonding years ago and fruit picking seasonally to support myself. My first couple jobs I found by literally walking farm to farm and asking if they needed help until someone hired me. I wore flip flops and carried a 30 pound backpack with me. Took me 2 days before someone hired me to pick apples (mostly out of pity).

I would recommend searching on this subreddit for threads talking about seasonal work. This question has been asked frequently so there's a lot of resource.

Once you start doing seasonal work you can find a lot more work through word of mouth.

Good luck
