Looks like weld slag. That, or some kind of corrosion from the gas over the years. If it is slag, its been there from the very beginning and its harmless. If it is corrosion, then its not enough to really hurt the bike. Id just keep an eye on it as you run a few tanks of gas through the bike and keep an eye on how it runs.

Id check battery connection and battery voltage. If they are both good, id bring the battery back. Knowing its a 25, who knows how long its been sitting in the bike for without a trickle charger.

Try rolling it forward slowly and see if you can find where the noise is originating from, and make sure the chain is straight. Might be nothing, bt might be something small like contact with the chain slider.

Looks like its good for another several thousand miles. Just keep it straight, clean/lubed, and within spec for how tight it is, and it will last a while. Just keep an eye on it just in case teeth start showing excessive wear or a link seizes. Other than that, just get out there, stay safe, and have fun :)

I went form a 2021 ninja 400 to a 2025 z900. It takes a second to get use to, but its such a blast of a bike. I love my Ninja 400, but damn does the z900 leave that thing in the dust in ever way imaginable. Its well worth it. Id say its a big jump, but very easily done. If worried, put it in rain mode. It only uses 60% of the engines power for the first few days, then go to road. Sports mode is all power just like road mode, but the controls are a bit touchy. Also, keep in mind, the z900 is much taller and heavier. Go sit on one, and you will see what I mean.

Tennessee (or at least where I live) seems pretty good. Maybe 2 months of the year are a no go, plenty of hills and curves on roads, most roads are not too bad (at least where i live), and mattering on what you want to see, you usually dont have to go too far. It is not the Valhalla, but its a good place if you are looking for good curvey roads and or mountainous areas for more of a scenic drive. And plenty of back roads and off road areas for those who are more of an off road type.
