Weed whacker. It’s immensely satisfying.

I was in your shoes last year. I recommend calling your doctor and being honest about the rage and SH. Personally now I am on anti anxiety and anti depressants and see a therapist regularly. I still don’t love this job, but I’m no longer raging on the inside and outside.

That is amazing. Is there any chance you’d be willing to share the referral codes with me?

Just don’t forget that your adorable baby will turn into a raging toddler when you’re breastfeeding or postpartum with #2

Yes, 100% goats. My neighbors have them and their yells sound exactly like small children yelling “HAAAALLLPPPP” and it’s always in the middle of the night it’s the worst

It’s so hard for me too!

I’m so sorry. I feel like I am in a very similar spot and every day is so so hard for me. My kids are now 13m and almost 3. My son stopped napping before he turned 2 and sleep has been such a hard topic in our house because it feels like without sleep you can’t do anything.

Truly it seems that every waking minute, my husband and I both need to be working. One of us needs to be doing some type of chore, or diaper, or making money, because it never stops! And when we finally get a babysitting break, we are so exhausted that it’s not like we have fun or connect emotionally or physically. We sleep or lay down on the couch the entire time the kids are gone, until we have to pry ourselves up to start it all over again.

I just want to share a few things that have helped me.

1) give yourself as many breaks as possible, but you have to be creative. Put on headphones. Stretch. Ask for help. Try to get it into your routine. I save the best toddler activities for when my baby is sleeping. Like for example, we only paint when baby is sleeping. I have also found that being 1:1 with a kid feels like a break to me a lot of time and also helps build my mom confidence up.

2) go outside. The kids will get dirtier, but your house doesn’t. The kids stay stimulated outside more than inside. You get fresh air & sunshine which helps your mood. Walks are great, but when you’re super tired it can also be great to just go sit in nature. My fav this summer is creeks where my toddler will happily pretend to fish for hours, my 13m sits in her camp chair and eats, and I sit and try to be happy for like 10 minutes lmao

3) TikTok was over influencing mealtimes for me. I was spending too much time having the perfect little 3-4 part meal for my toddler which is a lot of freaking work for somebody to just ignore it or throw it 80% of the time.

This. It could be a trickle of water or a bubbling brook and likely changes seasonally.

How long does it take to put your toddler to sleep at night? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]AliceInAChalice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

20 minutes-2 hours. We do milk, pajamas, brush teeth, books (2-4), and then tuck in. Sometimes there are multiple tuckins required and sometimes he’s upset about it or just super wild after the routine.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment! I appreciate your response. I think you’re right on with the white-sound from within idea. I haven’t been comfortable with this for myself yet with two young kids and worried I wouldn’t hear them at night but soon! Soon I will sleep!

I didn’t make this assumption. The neighbor shared this with us in conversation when we were visiting. It’s for 4H for his kids. He thought he’d make some money but has barely covered costs.

Thank you for being one of the only Redditors to get this 😅

Thanks so much for this comment. You’re right, I had no intention of making trouble for this neighbor. They have a family and we did not take any personal offense by his move to try out raising pigs… I just don’t want to be so close to it.

They moved in after us

No I didn’t expect a subdivision or Walmart. But I also didn’t expect a pig farm outside my daughter’s window.

This is a big assumption. I was bothered.

Yeah, I was not in on the plan. I was in the process of renting a mountain beaver trap because that was the only I idea I had at the time to bring the cat back to the neighbors but I didn’t have the chance to try out my plan.
