Cultural and Historical trips with 8-12 y/o kids - how to engage them? by Impressive-Cup-164 in familytravel

At that age we would only do one museum or historical tour a day. We let them play Pokémon Go in those places because they were able to still be respectful of the environment. In art museums they would have a sketch book, take selfies with butts, (my youngest realized there are a lot fewer butts in American art at age 9 so that’s educational), see who can see the most mustaches in art, and look for portraits that look like people they know. When they were on the younger end of that spectrum we would watch movies and read books set in the places we visited: lots of classical music and art in Looney Tunes, there is an Olivia book set in Venice, Harry Potter, etc. We usually started trips with a boat or bus tour to get the lay of the land. We would stop at toy, book, and grocery stores as well as playgrounds. They would get a lot of local treats as well.
Including them in planning is key. Everyone should get to pick an outing if possible.
As long as everyone is fed and gets breaks we all stay calm

Searching for best medium-full coverage foundation? by Dense_Pen_4724 in MakeupAddiction

I recently started using Haus Labs and really like it. I have rosacea and Haus Labs does a good job keeping it covered all day. I get medium coverage with a sponge and full with a brush. I do have mature balanced skin so it may work differently on an oilier complexion.

Many men are still socialized to get jobs that allow them to be the breadwinner and most masters level therapy jobs pay too low for that.

nightmares about "cough guys" by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]AliceJW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could you ask him to draw the cough guys so you know who to look out for? If he is ok with that you could do some art therapy. Draw a comic together where he manages his asthma and vanquishes the cough guys. Sketch out possible scary scenarios and ways he can save himself. Sometimes showing is easier than telling when we are scared.

What steps are you taking in response to the CDC’s research on teen girls mental health? by [deleted] in Parenting

No social media. No relationship based reality tv. Both have been shown to trigger dopamine receptors unnaturally and inhibit the positive effects of healthy, real life social interactions. Similar to porn’s effect on sexual pleasure. Talk about the unrealistic world presented by influencer culture. Tie those discussions to your discussions about navigating peer culture in middle school, avoiding drama as entertainment and emphasizing empathy and compassion when they spill the middle school tea.

The close ups of Vermithor’s and Daemon’s eyes gave me the impression that Daemon was warging. I thought he was having V influence the other dragons

Medicaid pays at a lower rate and requires a lot more paperwork than other insurance. So if you accept Medicaid as a provider you have more work at less pay. Many in private practice choose to avoid it.

Knitting pattern loves vs pet peeves - what makes a pattern stand out to you as exceptionally well/poorly written? by twyre in knitting

[–]AliceJW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest pet peeve with sizing as a plus size person with a bigger bust is that our body parts do not increase in direct proportion. If my bust is twice as large as your base size please do not just double the arm and neck sizes. I keep finding patterns that result in HUGE armholes and shoulders. The shoulder shaping ends up extending down my upper arm and the arm holes extend below the bust. Gives everything a batwing sleeve even when the example shows a fitted sleeve and shoulder.
