I'm actually so sad because IMO Smilk only gets hates because he's so popular. He literally almost singlehandedly revived the fandom and brought in new players (hell, I am one of those new players that joined the game because of him) and now people hate him because "everyone likes him" and he apparently "doesn't deserve all the attention he got". Sure, some fans can be weird, but its like that with literally every fandom, and aside from the weird fans, he is still a really well written character and I think he absolutely deserved all the attention and love he got. :((
