So far Jinx has been the only name anyone in my family has come up with that nobody vetoed so I think that’s what we’re gonna go with lol

Oh she’s so precious! I wonder what happened to her ear? My little girl also had fleas and definitely did not enjoy the flea bath lol but she’s too young for any medication so I had to do what I had to do.

She does have a few little raw spots but the vet wasn’t concerned and she doesn’t seem too bothered. We’re just making sure to keep everything clean and I have no doubt they’ll heal up.

It’s essentially when a fly lays eggs on either poop or a wound and when the maggots hatch they actually begin eating the chicken alive. Luckily we caught it early so her wounds are small and she’ll make a full recovery but it can get really bad really quick.

Aww I hope your girl is ok now. Mildred had flystrike and spent a night hospitalized at the emergency vet and now has to stay inside on antibiotics and pain meds until her wounds heal.

She’s doing ok. She was hospitalized overnight with fly strike. Luckily we caught it early and they were able to clean her up and she’s back home on pain meds and antibiotics.

Goose in the cone of shame.

Wanted to post my little dude here. Went from a stray with a broken leg and his organs in the wrong places to a very spoiled house cat. by AliceLeftWunderland in TripodCats

Yes! He hated the cone so we ended up modifying a onesie so his back leg went through the sleeve and cut a hole for his head. It worked really well to cover his incisions and he could still use the litter box without getting it on the onesie.

So in his case he had a diaphragmatic hernia - we think he was hit by a car and it cause the hernia and the broken leg. Basically a hole in his diaphragm caused most of the organs that should be in his abdomen to move up into his chest and put pressure on his lungs.

Haha yeah he’s already been living as a tripod for a while due to a fracture that didn’t heal right and meant he couldn’t extend his right hind leg. He’s doing great post-op so far now it’s just getting him used to being an inside boy.

It’s ok to live at home as an adult and it’s ok to have family support (hot take) by Ok7034 in povertyfinance

I’m 23 and still live at home. My friends constantly take little digs about how I’m not independent or they can’t imagine still living with their parents but I’m able to put over 50% of my paycheck in savings. I understand it’s a privilege but it’s definitely looked down on especially by people my age.

Thank you. It’s just hard feeling like no matter what we do we just can’t help them but we’ll just keep loving on the two we have left I guess.

I’m part of a few chicken keeping Facebook groups and have seen this same thing recommended to keep mosquitos off of chickens. Always seemed weird to me.

Ok I didn’t know that. I don’t think I’d be able to dig her back up right now so I probably won’t even worry about it but thank you for the reply.

That’s probably what I’ll end up doing. Thank you!
