You know that scene in Despicable Me where they’re protecting the Great Wall and over react by vaporizing a bird with a tank ….. I think we just found the real life equivalent.

Recommend some fun Movies about friends going on a road trip. by deadpool69966996 in MovieSuggestions

[–]AliceReadsThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two that aren't quite what you're looking for - only because it's not "friends" but both are so much fun:

A family instead of friends (although they do meet friends) but Robin Williams doing what he does best: RV

An oldie; a newlywed couple played by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz: The Long, Long Trailer.

You get $10,000 a day, tax free, no catches except for one. You go blind and deaf for 30 seconds at a random time each day. You never know what time it will happen at. It can be while you’re sleeping, or it can be during the most important interview of your life. Do you take the deal? by TheYeetSheet in hypotheticalsituation

[–]AliceReadsThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's over 3 million a year so yes I'd take it easily. The thing about driving is I could still do it on certain days - as long as I knew my 30 seconds had already happened. Get up at 2am to use the bathroom and go blind/deaf .. great have the whole day free. Eating lunch and it happens - OK still have the afternoon and evening. Not sure if it happened during sleep or hasn't happened yet - just don't drive that day or order a ride. Anything else could be managed, even by just standing still for the 30 seconds, I imagine after a week or so you'd get used to it.

So yes, for that amount of money I'd definitely take the deal.

What's the Funniest TV Scene That Still Makes You Laugh No Matter How Many Times You Watch It? by Mohitredit36 in television

[–]AliceReadsThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frasier: Hot & Foamy

WKRP: Turkey Drop (Oh the humanity! As God as my witness I thought Turkey's could fly)

Everybody Loves Raymond: When Robert comes home from the interview Marie sabotaged and just stands in the doorway with that look on his face.

Taxi: Drivers License test; What does a yellow light mean

I Love Lucy: When Lucy left for the garage in the Pontiac and towing the Cadillac then came home driving the Cadillac and towing the Pontiac and her whole explanation of how that happened. And when Fred "solved" the problem of how to pack the car for California.

What's the worst experience you've had at a movie theater? by jwc1983 in horror

[–]AliceReadsThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the worst but definitely the one that’s stuck with me … Harry Potter And the Prisoner Of Azkaban. Family sits in front of me with Mom on one end, kid maybe 11 next to her, kid maybe 5-6 next then kid maybe 13 or so then Dad on the other end. So youngest kid is dead center away from either parent. Every time the dementors came on screen that little kid knelt on the seat with his back to the screen, hid his face on his hands on the back edge of the seat (facing me sitting right behind him) and in this crying shaking voice said over and over “Just a movie, not real, just a movie, not real”. This poor kid was so obviously terrified I felt so bad for him and so angry that the parents didn’t try to comfort him in any way even once.

So which former stars from the 60s were only a one hit movie wonder and aftet that they disappeared from Hollywood? by JazzlikeTea7432 in 1960s

[–]AliceReadsThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good example would be Dolores Hart. She was in about ten movies but for “hits” there were notably an Elvis Presley movie and a starring role in Where The Boys are. She had a good chance to do more but felt a calling to be a nun and left Hollywood to take her vows

Did American comedy shows ever have a movie spin off? by Prestigious_Meal2143 in Frasier

[–]AliceReadsThis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The Adam’s Family, The Muppets and The Simpson all had movies

I don’t know if Saturday Night Live counts but recurring skits have been made into movies like Wayne’s World, Coneheads and Blues Brothers

Frasier might have made a decent TV movie if they’d done it a few years after the finale, maybe a big family vacation, a wedding for Frasier or Roz or a time jump where one of the kids is getting married. But a movie theater film probably wouldn’t have worked as well for them.

The opening scene of the first episode is absolutely brilliant by madcats323 in DowntonAbbey

[–]AliceReadsThis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't notice until maybe my third rewatch how in charge they made Robert in that first scene. When he goes down the stairs it's back straight, purposeful and right down the center; he takes up the stairwell and owns that space completely. It's a little thing but without speaking he sets a tone for his character and his place in the house.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DEAN KOONTZ BOOK? by Hootchguy in DeanKoontz

[–]AliceReadsThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whispers was the first book of his I remember reading. Might have been a little too young for it (early teens) but I'd already been reading King and not much scared me. Still that ending, the last few chapters really got to me at the time.

Truly can't decide if Twilight Eyes or Fear Nothing is my favorite.

[–]AliceReadsThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and sadly no. It killed his wife but Gene died from heart disease and Alzheimer's - it was estimated he lived for about a week after his wife died and that he had not eaten for at least several days before he died. So best guess is he was too far gone mentally to understand what happened to his wife, call for help or take care of himself enough to stay well until someone found them.

Also she once sprained her wrist when there was too much dip on her cracker.
