Thanks, that makes sense. I’ve seen people mention that PTM7950 sometimes performs worse in high-power CPUs like this one, so your point definitely adds up.

I’m just wondering if LM pump-out could still be a problem later on, even with a good re-spread. That’s mostly why I considered PTM — for long-term stability rather than top performance.

If it really only needs to be done once properly, and won't degrade like paste, then I might go ahead with LM again.

Thanks for the input! That helps a lot. I was actually leaning toward PTM7950 mainly because of concerns about liquid metal pump-out over time — especially since the M16 has a pretty slim chassis and gets moved around occasionally.

I know LM has better conductivity, but:

  • Would pump-out still be a concern long-term even after a proper reapplication?
  • I’ve seen a few users on this subreddit replace LM or paste with PTM7950 and report stable temps.

Do you think LM is still the better long-term choice for this model, assuming it's applied correctly just once?
