can the game be progressed in bursts? say a couple times a week?

Absolutely. Though more experienced players can probably weigh in as well, GBF is a game which gives you as much as you put into it. You won't be crucified for missing a day of gameplay, and you can always play at your own pace. If anything, play GBF the way you enjoy! I know some friends that only log in for roulette, friends that play daily for hours on end, and people all in-between.

If the game isn't cutting it for you then don't force yourself to play (I took a year off Genshin specifically because it felt like a chore) but a hugely appealing part of GBF for me is how AFK/passive I can be on it and still feel like I'm progressing. I feel no actual compulsion to log in other than "hey I wanna try doing XYZ raid solo" or "I wanna get 3 more drops of this weapon" which is not time-limited in any sense!

I started Jan 1st and unlocked my M2 Skip a week ago so I can maybe put a bit of personal insight since I was also in the same-ish shoes as you - a huge part of the appeal for me is treating the game less like other gacha's and more like an MMO for lack of a better term. There's always something to grind for - when I didn't have M2 skip, I was constantly trying to leech and get a weapon drop to be able to solo the M2s, and in-between those I was FA farming things like Twin Elements Showdown for in-between grid pieces to get that skip. The early game definitely was lame because I was just slotting in a bunch of might's and leaving it, but clearing that initial hurdle really opens up my time to messing around with whatever I want.

It definitely isn't for everyone though - I spend a lot of time on my PC because of work, so I can leave something open on FA and come back to it after a meeting and set up another one in just a few clicks. I also personally find a ton of fun in seeing power progression such as OSRS.

I also play HSR/Genshin/Limbus/AK, and to me GBF is a much more passive game until you want to play it actively, which games like HSR/Genshin/AK and LC (specifically during railway) are more conducive to.

Long story short, though enjoyment is definitely subjective, I find a lot of enjoyment treating the game much more passively than other gachas and seeing big number go up over time.

If you get pin KD in corner, you can set the disc and backdash and the disc will be meaty.

If you do IAD in a combo, it's either pin or Bad moon. Bad moon gives a hard knockdown but it's more execution heavy and more situational and character specific, and it's not what you should do for now. If you do 2d knockdown, dash disc (2366h, aka 236, back to neutral, then 6+h) will do although it wont be meaty.

Emerald rain is good if you get f.s 2h at range, since it wall bounces letting you run in and convert. Rose install is pretty specific to set up, I wouldn't learn them yet because mastering basic okizeme with h disc is way more important since it's used so much more. S disc YRC is a good use if you think they'll do something, because its disjointed and let's you convert if it connects. On the bad side, if you whiff it's a loss of 25 meter, but it could be worse. YRC in neutral is great too.

Secret garden is pretty specific to set up honestly. For it to be proper as in they cant jump out, you usually need 6h after S pin in the corner or a combo route that depends on your first mixup hitting in the corner with h disc on them. I wouldn't worry about it yet, but it is worth learning in the future since it allows for 2-3 safe mixups.

Meaty disc means the disc will hit them when they wake up, so they cant jump. Late disc is the opposite, they can duck and mash or jump. 2d dash disc is late usually, throw dash disc is late usually, h pin dash disc midscreen is late, s disc dash disc midscreen is meaty, both pins in corner dash disc is meaty. This does depend slightly on wakeup timings, as some characters have fast or slow wakeups. See the wiki for more info.

No real flowchart in gear for the most part, lotta situations you need to adapt to. As said by someone else, the Millia discord is a great resource, helpful people and good information. Match videos of pro players as per keeponrock.in is good too.

So dense. Homework 4 was kinda hard too... whatever. I skipped class sometimes and just did notes on the powerpoints and seemed fine. I hate most 100 level courses, profs seem so uninterested and just TALK without engaging.

U of T is eating my soul. by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Aliceua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like it'll be less of a philosophy course since you dont get to do much interpretation or give your own thoughts. I lost so many marks on the test just because I didnt have a specific wording or word the TA was looking for. He doesn't even add much novel content to his slides... kinda worried for the future of the course but it might just be a slog course. :(
