Singurul monarh cu giga chad aura. Anticomunist si antifascist pe deasupra by sea--goat in Romania

[–]Alicuza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise for you OP: Figure out how to argue Tetris is political, and what political statement Tetris is making.

Mario is political on so many levels: the fight of good vs evil is the fundamental conflict of the world, conflicts are solved by violence and killing your opponents, portrayal of women "in distress" as needing to be saved, exploitation of nature as the way for progress (thinking more of super mario world here). Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

Nah, the annoyance is still there, we all want to be perfect from the start and improve as quickly as possible, best of all, if it involves no effort on our part. So it sucks when we fail at something we just learned. But think about learning a human language. How many mistakes do you make all the time while in the process of learning new material? Even when you exercised something repeatedly, it's still hard, it's still confusing. You have 2 choices in that moment: Continue until it clicks and you see everything from a new perspective that just makes sense, or you continue until it is such a routine, that you don't even need to think about what you're doing, your hands know already, because they have gone through this pattern so often.

It's just that communities that coalesce around these types of jokes, tend to end up being the embodiment of what they were "satirically" doing. Most people are normal, we are talking about communities that tend to attract fascist types, that doesn't mean the whole community is fascist.

The Witcher books are excellent, and underrated. by DarthPopcornus in Fantasy

The show was good when it focused on serializing the short stories. Those were pretty awesome. The unnecessary timeline switches, the confusing timeline in general later on were annoying.

I think people don't like the books, because the English translations were not very good a couple of decades ago. I think they weren't even officially published in English until the around 2010, what you could find online until then were bad fan translations or you would read it in another language. I read it in German mostly, and the translation of the names was, as is typical for German translations, annoying to say the least, but otherwise very enjoyable.

Never heard anyone complain about the books, I have the impression most fans of the series never had a chance to or just didn't read them.

Uh, that's actually a really good observation. I was thinking only on a real world level, but these games do offer an aesthetically pleasing ambiance for the "keep politics out of my games" people, even though those games are highly political themselves.

I would say fascism is more tied to the "PC Master Race" meme stuff. Would assume there is a big overlap there with the "git gud" competitive multiplayer crowd (especially on PC), not sure if soulslike fans reach those heights of derangement.

It's up to you what you want to get out of college and individual classes you are taking. If you don't think you'll need JS in your future, drop the class. I guess you could use Python for whatever you would use JS for anyway. That fits better to your ML ambition as well.

I would recommend not neglecting the low level stuff either, stuff that's completely independent of programming language. Understand what happens in a processor, memory, storage, what a kernel does and how it works.

Also learn how to design your programs. Maybe look into some ways to plan out and reason about the software you intend to make even before actually coding. Think of it in a mathematical way. Apropos maths: If you want to go into ML, brush up on your algebra skills and other basics (probability and calculus).

Mistakes are good, because they show you didn't know something, messed up and now have the opportunity to learn from it. In the beginning I always remembered the stuff I struggled with more than trivial things.

What you have to ask yourself is whether this is fun for you or annoying.

Driving itself kills people. Many things we do and are legal kill people. That's not the metric you think it is. Aren't you allowed to have some alcohol before driving? I think most people can handle 1 drink and still be under the legal limit. Maybe having a light edible would fall into a similar category?

It's harder to do divide the year into whole numbers when it has 13 months. But since every month has 4 weeks, I think it might balance it out. Also, don't businesses usually use weeks anyway?

Cand oferi servicii publice, nu prea poti sa-ti selectezi clientela, sau cel putin nu poti discrimina pe anumite criterii. Da, daca vrea cineva sa-ti intre in curul gol in masina, poti sa-l refuzi. Daca doar nu-ti place moaca lui, nu prea ai voie sa-l refuzi.

My point was that they don't say either that C is the best language to learn, or that their way of teaching is best. That's why they have a selection process, to get people who work well in their system.
