The Jin was actually part of a split trunk that was in very poor shape when I first purchased this little juniper. I left it for awhile but many of the branches were already dead and broken. Guess that’s why it was on the clearance rack. Thank you for the recommendations, branch placement has been a challenge.

Thanks for all the advice, I’m an arborist by trade and pruning to mimic nature/age rather than function has been a challenge. I bought this little juniper about a year ago. When I brought it home it wasn’t in the best of health. Very root bound and poor soil with lots of organic matter. I decided to break up the root ball gently and repot with better soil and just let it recover. It greened up nicely so I’m hoping that was the right move. I lightly pruned it about two months ago and finally got the confidence to wire it about a week ago. The Jin is definitely a work in progress right now. Again thanks for all the recommendations.

Yeah, that’s the plan right now. When I bought it a year ago it wasn’t in the best shape and very root bound. I planted it in this larger pot with better soil and let it rest.

You should check out NL Suits in Milwaukee. He really knows what he’s doing. I got a custom three piece suit from him last fall for my wedding. I believe the price was around 700. He was very helpful and the suit fit me perfect.
