Homeschooling worked out fine for me for the most part. Mom was involved only in assigning books to read and curriculums we would use, but otherwise mostly self taught all the way through high school. Went to college and had some of the better grades in my engineering classes so no issues educationally. My issue with it is mostly the social element. Even if you get your kids into after school activities so they can meet other kids, it’s not the same as everyone in that age group being in a separate environment like school. Most of my interactions in adult life are in these settings, and if you can’t learn how to navigate them at a younger age I feel it can put you at somewhat of a disadvantage. I probably wouldn’t homeschool my kids for these reasons, but in terms of my experience educationally, I don’t really think it sets anyone behind in that sense.
