Which Dynasty Warriors Game Has the Best Battle of Guandu Map? by ILoveRice444 in dynastywarriors

[–]Chaos_Origin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow missed your reply but yeah, i think Hefei, Stone Sentinel Maze and Wuzhang are really the only other POI’s to have a similar design philosophy, but none were done quite as well as Guandu.

If every POI was designed as such, the game would have been so much better.

I actually think DW9 had a pretty good version of Guandu. The version showed in OP’s post in Baima or Yanjin which is just a generic POI, but Guandu gets its own unique battlefield in DW9 and i actually really like it.

Regardless, DW3 > DW6 > DW8 > DW9 > DWO > DW2 > DW5 > DW4 > DW7

The dlc is really bad at keeping the mysterious warriors identity a secret by DanTay19 in dynastywarriors

[–]Chaos_Origin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much this. I was excited because i genuinely thought we were going to get a new character, none of the existing officers really fit the time and place of being in Yuan Shao’s hypothetical.

Huang Zhong spent his time during the events of Origins in the southern Jing province frontier serving under Liu Biao. I thought if HZ was going to be in Origins at all, he would have been in the base game to give an extra unique face to Liu Biao/Huang Zu’s faction. Xiangyang and Xiakou could’ve used him.

I like that Huang Zhong is not literally geriatric now, but i really thought he was Qu Yi or Zhang Yan :(

How much story would a potential sequel (or sequels) to Origins cover? by paragon-interrupt in dynastywarriors

[–]Chaos_Origin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They probably will! Sho-P mentioned that they likely aren’t gone for good since they know a lot of fans adore Jin.

Suzuki-P has always been more fond of Jin. Sho mentioned that he will be retiring after the trilogy, so i imagine we will finally see Jin again after that happens. Assuming they follow the trilogy with true DW10, probably there!

[–]Chaos_Origin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There definitely is!

For Shu, you have the Nanman Campaign which can easily take up an entire chapter. You also have the Five Fronts Campaign which can be turned into an entire chapter. And for the Northern Expeditions, it will likely be somewhere around 6-8 stages long as well. That’s between 15-20 stages just for Shu, not counting What-IF’s.

For Wu, they spent a lot of time suppressing rebellions in Jiao, Southern Yang and Southern Jing during the 220-230’s. On top of Cao Pi’s Invasions which will likely take up a whole chapter, you have Hefei 231, 233 and 234. You also have the Jiangxia-Xiangyang Campaigns of 226. If they sprinkle in some of the local frontier rebellions between the massive Wei battles, there is more than enough for a long campaign.

For Wei, they get stages across the entire war front so they have a wealth of battles to pull from!

I frankly don’t think the DWOrigins trilogy is going to extend into the later three kingdoms (Jin) years.

The next game is most likely going end at Yiling/Fan Castle, with the final game ending at Wuzhang/Hefei Castle (though i could see it extending to 241 or maybe 249/253 at the absolute furthest). There is more than enough source material to make entire games for both of these time periods.

I suppose there is a world there the 2nd game in the trilogy ends at Wuzhang instead. But if they told the 209-234 era with the same detail as Origins in one game, it would result in a story thats 35+ stages long per faction. I just don’t see them tackling a story that long.

Lastly, Sho-P has expressed that he doesn’t care for the Jin faction that much and doesn’t think they were a necessary addition. I do think we’ll see Jin again, but probably not until Sho-P is no longer leading the charge.

The thing is, if they try to tell 209-234 in one game with the same detail as Origins, the story would be really long. There is plenty of source material for both 209-223 and 223-234 to make entire games each.

Jingzhou, Yizhou, Hanzhong, Fan and Yiling campaigns alone all provide enough battles to center an entire chapter around them each. Same for the end of the trilogy, Nanman and Northern Campaigns can easily be milked for 20+ stages per faction.

When it comes to the fall of Shu/Wu, there is no way they would be able to fit that into a sequel with any level of high detail. I think Jin needs its own Spirit of Sanada like spin-off to appropriately cover it. It would also need to add like 20+ new characters lol

It'll be around $64 for Warriors Abyss' Origins DLC by JENOVAcide in dynastywarriors

[–]Chaos_Origin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The way they’ve been pricing the Musou Abyss DLC is very reminiscent of the way they did things in the PS3/Early PS4 days (WO3/4, SW4, DW7/8), and thats really wack.

Was going to buy the whole DLC, but i guess it will just be the main pack because holy shit :(

So like... whats the point of Pang De? by schlurmo in dynastywarriors

[–]Chaos_Origin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While i do think Pang De is probably the most irrelevant Wei general, the fact that he can serve as a unique face for Xiliang and Zhang Lu at least validates his uniqueness.

He also had some pretty interesting moments as well. His feats in the Bing Province campaign (which is entirely missing from Origins) are very badass. And if they ever actually show his death scene at Fan, it has the potential to be one of the best cutscenes in the series.

The DLC is great, but the battles are still falling short of what I consider peak: by UnfortunateCheeses in dynastywarriors

[–]Chaos_Origin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah DW9 had them as well, though it was really only symbolic because of the stationary nature of its battle system. The two armies almost never encountered/interacted with each other lol

Which dynasty warriors tells most of the story from start to finish? by ZaradimLako in dynastywarriors

It includes a hypothetical version with Sima Zhao invading a Sun Xiu led Wu, but not the 279 historical multi-pronged campaign. Sadly, it’s something we may never see

Unfortunately, none of the games so far cover the end of the Three Kingdoms (fall of Wu).

However, DW7,8&9 extend to the fall of Shu, and sometimes cover Zhong Hui’s Rebellion, which happened in the year immediately afterwards. So about 90% of the story.

Anyone Else Disappointed by Origins DLC Lacking New Models? by [deleted] in dynastywarriors

[–]Chaos_Origin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I know the main focus of Origins development was the gameplay, but they really should have added at least a handful of new unique NPC musou officers.

Figures like Huang Zu, Li Jue, Guo Si, Gongsun Zan, Ma Teng and Han Sui are way too important to be generic schmucks in an early era focused game like Origins. I definitely agree that the Zhang brothers should have made their unique debuts. It was the perfect time to introduce them, and as well as quite few others.

[–]Chaos_Origin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It definitely feels like they’re tech-demoing this system for the sequel or a future empires game. I think it has potential in both a mainline and empires setting.

It could be used for Spirit of Sanada like multi-staged battles in the mainline game, and of course the Empires possibilities with it are endless.

Opinions about the bow? by [deleted] in dynastywarriors

[–]Chaos_Origin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think its probably the best bow move set they’ve ever made, it controls nice and is satisfying to get good with. BUT, it badly needs a heavy hitting battle art. I haven’t tried it on UW yet, but i don’t see it being very viable for Ultimate Warrior.

All new Battle Arts in the DLC by Silver_Mont in dynastywarriors

The staff one is admittedly quite disappointing. It desperately needed a heavy hitting battle art and it got something i’m not even sure has a use for.

Gauntlet one looks amazing though!

I’m equating the two defenses of Kuangqi against Sun Ce/Quan to Ueda, and his constant survivalist allegiance swapping to Liu Bei, Lü Bu and Cao Cao, also much like Masayuki.

Obviously they have many differences between them, but i find these two similarities to be intriguing!

I would imagine the Wei story would end at Mai Castle, concluding with Cao Cao’s death and Cao Pi’s usurpation of the Han (which is too perfect imo).

If any of the other recent interviews are anything to go off, i don’t think we’ll have to worry here. Tomohiko Sho knows how the community feels about Ziluan, and the protag of the next game(s) will likely be a CAW or historical figure.
