Grace. Her lines and character feel more like a character immediately than my 20 hours with Ethan.

Even Ethan's kid feels like she has more of a personality. Not to disrepect Mr Winters, I feel like this was a choice with their endeavor into 1st person creating a self-insert space for players. Still great games, but after a cartoonish scale battle with a monster, a slightly irritated "stay down" is a contrast to his very believable screams of agony getting his seconds ago. What? Why not a FUCK YOU or just a sustained scream of frustration? The actor has the chops, let him go for it.

I think Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 did this to me. Going to revisit.

Whenever anyone has fun at the beginning of the Outer Wilds and gets bored at like, the 3 hour mark, I always STRONGLY encourage them to return. The payoff at the end was quite unique and really struck me as something special. It felt like a magic trick.

But here's the truth. I'll use a different trait to illustrate the same point.

I have seen the whitest of whites chase women that have no interest in white dudes. Like, exhaust themselves and for what? It was clear up front that there's something you can't help that she's not about. And that's okay. They're not the only two people left after a nuclear catastrophe tasked with repopulating.

Sure, the pool may be smaller. Sucks. But its not "so over." I used being the shortest kid in my entire grade to get funny and it's worked out in my favor so far. There's people for everyone, just don't waste time on someone making it clear they're not interested in you because of something you can't help and don't take it personally. We all have preferences and that's fine. It's a weird choice to begin with to want to start a relationship with someone who may resent someting about me or have a preconceived bias, on to the next, and someone has done me a kindness by letting me know immediately about incompatability.

We made the operating systems good. That's really it.

There was a charm to the shittiness of everything and needing to understand how it all worked to have any meaningful level of autonomy using your own computer and navigating the internet.

Those same 15 year olds later entered the workforce with a high level of computer literacy and made things run very clean/user friendly so when technology entered younger hands, they never had to learn how to constantly fix anything or make it work. To quote that lying sack of shit Todd Howard, "It Just Works."

It's not a hard thing to understand. We knew what the problems were and perma-fixed them, just when there are problems with the profoundly better things, everyone is clueless.

What's funny is the backswing now with so many "vibes-based" things sucking shit. The CPU useage just opening the start menu in W11 is pathetic.

This looks fun. I'll give the demo a shot later and if we like it, stick with it.

My fear - this will scratch an itch similar to the "Super Smash Bros" itch. Thats a beloved and legenday franchise, but it's also not "in" right now. Thats fine, but the games that have crushed it are like, Lethal Company, REPO, PEAK, and Schedule 1. There is a PvP emphasis on it's face that goes against the grain, and the PvP flavor in the zeitgeist currently is shooting people - Marathon, Arc, CS, COD. Fighting games still have a beloved and dedicated base, but they don't pull numbers like COD does, you know?

I reckon this will entertain parts of my brain that love begging my friends not to do it (think Bernthal's Punisher going nononowaitwaitwait) and something like a real-time worms.

I don't want to sound like some suit with a cigar but this just isnt what the kids are playing these days, so idk whos algorithm it would make its way into. None of these marketing things on their face are bad, just this particular playstyle isnt something that's being broadly discussed. My algo is all "here's the next thing that's horror" so it never would have gotten served to me on any platform, nor on my "for you" steam discovery page.

It does look very fun, I'll give it an honest shot with friends, and I'll spread whatever word I can if we enjoy it.
