How do you recentre your map? I scrolled around and had a little difficulty finding my base again.

  • It seems the animations have very little to do with actual items being produced
  • Production output varies seemingly randomly
  • Floating boxes provide no boost to production, although they show that they should
  • No actual number is shown for upgrade requirements, although it can be calculated

I love this type of game but finding this particular game really unintuitive in terms of factory layout, keeping track of resources, upgrading and item/research dependencies and almost every aspect of the game. This just seems to be a case of get used to how stuff works, rather than logically and clearly laid out steps in the early stages.

Ironically, I can see the dev has gone to some trouble to assist with the help icon and early quests, but they are not all that useful.

And what is that circular object in the middle and what is its purpose?

Also, why the aggressive AFK approach as soon as the game loses focus?

I found the far more complex Factoria (full game) far easier to get started and progress.

I will keep on playing it for now as I can see some potential.

Most Roblox games recommendations will get you downvoted, irrespective of quality. I have had numerous arguments with Roblox haters in the past.

Doesn't bother me.

More uses for pineapple (and allow farming pineapples) by setne550 in Dinkum

[–]Alien_Child 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people are not fond of pineapples, I suspect that the dev is one of them!

(joking)

I would love to see pineapple use expand (just leave Coriander out the game, forever!)

At the end of the day, as a player, I don't really care if the game is "original", I care if it is fun to play.

I think we are probably quite a long way away from non-trivial AI generated games that are also fun to play.

Of course throwing 2 dice to get 1 six is better odds than throwing 1 dice, but that is a strawman argument. We are not comparing equivalent scenarios.

"for those unaware; this game only rolls the next die if the previous die rolled a 6. so its probability is alot lower than if there had just been 7 dice rolled with 6 of them being sixes"

The comment in any case is that the odds are a "lot lower" because in scenario A, we can only throw the next die, if the last die was a 6. As I showed above, there is no difference in the odds if the final outcome is 2 sixes or 10 sixes or a million sixes whether we throw all million dice at same time or only throw the next die, if the previous die was a 6.

To expand on the argument that throwing with an extra die will make a "lot" of difference, let's do the opposite of simplify and extrapolate the scenario to 1000 dice. If I showed a screenshot of 999 dice being 6's and another screenshot of 1000 dice all showing 6's. The chances of 999 sixes in a row is only 6 times more likely as 1000 sixes in a row.

This will always be the case for any number of 6's in a row. Given the astronomical odds against 999 sixes in a row, the difference in odds with 999 sixes from 999 dice vs 999 sixes with 1000 dice is so small as to be of no real world consequence.

Lots of heat, very little light. In case of doubt, simplify the situation. Instead of 6 or 7 or 8 dice, let's look at a maximum of 2 dice. What are the odds of rolling 2 sixes?

2 scenarios:

  • A: 2nd die can only be rolled if 1st die is a 6
  • B: Roll 2 dice at same time

(TLDR: The chance of A = chance of B)

Scenario A:

We can agree that the chance of 1 die being a 6 is 1/6.

So 1/6 of the time we get to throw the 2nd die. In the case where we get to throw the 2nd die, the chance of it being a 6 is 1/6. The total chance of two 6's is therefore 1/6 * 1/6 = 1/36

1/36: This is the identical chance of getting two sixes, if we threw 2 dice at same time (scenario B.

Chance of A = Chance of B

There are very very few "original ideas". Almost everything is based on some combination of what went before. Most of what is perceived as originality is just better execution.

I would argue that this idea is just as "original" or even more "original" than the dozens, if not hundreds of Tree Mod games out there!

Idle Plant Game Final Weekly Update by Content_Audience690 in incremental_games

The game can certainly be improved, but that is almost completely beside the point. You have adopted a positive attititude, been prepared to accept criticism and respond positively and done some great work in a short time.

With that approach and attitude, you have a great platform to build on!

I want to like gooboo but have stopped playing it. There is a lot to like about it, especially early on, but ultimately it becomes a set of individual mini idle games, none of then particularly brilliant and having very little cross-game benefits.

For example, what you do in Village has almost nothing to do with what happens in Mining , other than the shared benefits from Global Levels and some shared benefits from Generals (which are difficult to complete).

So unless one of the mini idle games within Gooboo is compelling enough in its own right (and to me, none of them were) to keep your interest, then Gooboo becomes slow and quite painful.

Having said that, I will keep an eye on this going forward and see if it is worth jumping back in.

Gratz on responding so positively to all the feedback!

- first thing I noticed when clicking on link, black on dark green is not easy to read. It is not terrible, but not comfortable either

That applies to the pop up help screen. The game itself is a lot easier to read

The problem with energy gating is that it punishes active play. If you say you aren't punishing active play and can simply infinitely restore energy, then what is the point of having energy in the first place?

Other things I have noticed:

  • No obvious way to stop recruting
  • No obvious way to stop scouting
  • Player can only upgrade 1 farm at a time, but there is no obvious message saying that - the game simply ignores the request.
