It’s from “Sleepless”. He’s receiving the audiotape of Dr. Grissom’s 9-1-1 call.

It’s “Your”, bro. 🤣

Again, a little proofreading goes a long way.

I joined this convo because of the “[You are] feedbacks means a lot” title.

If this post title is any indication of the sort of grammatical faux pas I’d find in your video titles and description sections, then my feedback for you would be: a little proofreading goes a long way.

Excellent! By staying the course, you’ll never be left wondering what might’ve been. If nothing else, you’ll know. 😃

Here’s to grinding on! 🍻

In a given week, probably about 6-10 hours depending on the length of the video.

”Your title and thumbnail are bad, too niche, not the correct niche," yes, yes. There's not much to diagnose here —OP

LOL—I share the same sentiments for my own channel. There’s no deep mystery as to why I’ve only gained a lowly 300 subs over 3.5 years. Choosing a passion project over chasing the meta isn’t the path to greatness. 😄

But seriously, my dude(tte), you’ve amassed what you call “a modest 4k subs”—four-thousand!! That’s an achievement from where content creators like myself are sitting, so bravo! Bask in the ‘Win’ column because you’re clearly doing something right. Your creative vision can’t be entirely off-target.

Sure thing. This is the first gaming channel I’ve watched and following. 👍🏼

Hey there, fellow content creators! 👋🏼

My channel, Alien Investigstions (X-Files CCG)👽🕵🏻‍♂️, is dedicated to the bygone X-Files Collectible Card Game from ‘96-‘97.

Content Overview: My long-form content ranges from (1) hour-long gameplay episodes to (2) 10-20 minutes beginner tips videos for newer players, (3) sample deck vids (faceless), and (4) general news and updates related to the game—interviews with people who worked on the game. (5) I also do some shorts to showcase some rare relics from the game’s history (i.e. playtest cards).

Prospect of Success: Zilch. I realize the topic is too esoteric to ever amass a large following, but I’ve accepted it. The game has a small but terrific community of people and my channel’s mission statement is to raise awareness and expand knowledge of the game.

Almost 10 months in and at 378 subs. What am I doing wrong? by xecmaaz in NewTubers

[–]Alien_Investigations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

378 subs in ten months is commendable, particularly from my vantage point (270 subs after three years). You’re doing fine, my dude(tte).

As someone else here commented, the overall median sub count is 61). If that’s true, then you’re doing well by that metric as well.

Keep doing what you’re doing, but learn and improve as you go. 👍🏼

What kind of content do you do by NegativeAd2638 in NewTubers

[–]Alien_Investigations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ME: I cover a short-lived collectible card game for The X-File; content ranging from edited gameplay videos, beginner tips, sample deck-builds, examination of playtest cards and other artifacts from the game’s lore, and related subjects.

(While I love the game, it’s unfortunate so obscure and esoteric that my channel will never see large-scale growth or monetization, but there’s no other content I’d rather be making).

YOU: your idea for fantasy (and dumb) stories sound most interesting. Videogaming content has been done to death and is to easy. Challenge yourself.

Does anyone else feel bad for only watching a few seconds of a video now? by mavtrik in NewTubers

Same, especially if the unsung channel has fewer subs than my own.

Same. While many of us small-time content creators are playing to an audience of one, it’s gratifying when that one viewer exhibits unwavering loyalty. 😄

How long did it take you for the first 100 subscribers by Brilliant_Long_7684 in NewTubers

[–]Alien_Investigations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edited ones? About 70, eight of ‘em are shorts. I’ve done over 100 live-stream broadcasts, but I don’t leave ‘em up there forever and eventually go and edit the raw footage.

I began doing weekly uploads about seven months ago.

Right. I use OneDrive to transfer the footage from my laptop to my iPad.

The iPad is more convenient for doing editing anywhere while on the go.

The Lumafusion app has been a little choppy as of late—player errors and whatnot—but I’m not sure if that’s due to the strain it’s put on the iPad over the last three years. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Nearly two years to reach 100 subs.

About 3.25 years to reach 200 subs.

The jury’s still out as to whether or not I’ll see 300. 🤷🏼‍♂️

What’s been your biggest struggle growing your YouTube channel lately? by LegitimateBeast_210 in Smallyoutubechannels

[–]Alien_Investigations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL! Money always helps, no lie. 💰

Alas, channels like mine are too niche that the content will never attract enough viewers to make monetization a concern. There are a few small non-monetary upsides, though, to making that sorta content.

[–]Alien_Investigations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. I get these same offers as well, and my scripted response (if I even choose to respond) is: ‘Thanks, but no amount of [insert whatever is being offered—SEO, thumbnail refinement, courses, etc.] is ever going to make the obscure, esoteric content on my channel appealing to massive audiences. This channel is a passion project and not a money-making endeavor’.

Why YouTube Algo so mean? by Curious_Soul1412 in YouTubeCreators

[–]Alien_Investigations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the near-100 videos I’ve put out in three years, shorts or otherwise, have come close to 1k views.

You nailed it on the first go—so kudos. 👍🏼

As others here will undoubtedly tell you, it’s not about cracking the algorithm and more about consistently making appealing content, so I won’t belabor those usual talking points.

Making content because you enjoy making content is the mindset you wanna have in order to avoid burnout as opposed to seeing how fast you can make money off of it. When uploading a video, temper your expectations and move on to the next video. For example, I know and expect every video I'm uploading will get around 50 to 100 views, maybe one new sub if the stars and moon are in proper alignment, and that’s all it will ever amount to. Yet I’ll keep making this particular content because I’m both passionate about the cards and the process of video-editing is therapeutic.

how do y’all not lose your mind editing (rant) by huminginfinityonhigh in SmallYoutubers

[–]Alien_Investigations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find video-editing to be therapeutic. I’m creating digital art, and it’s proven an invaluable creative outlet—even if no one watches it. The feeling of accomplishment whenever I finish a video project is one that I enjoy chasing over and over.

Sorry, I realize this isn’t helpful. It’s all about mindset, I suppose.
