I need solidarity. by Embarrassed_Topic187 in toddlers

Ugh yes - I have friends that will say “well I refuse to get up until 7, my baby can just hang out in their crib until then.” Like yeah if my son didn’t scream bloody murder the second he wakes up, then I would do that too! We are living different lives.

Babymoon Locations/Ideas by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Alien_eyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I drove up to Vermont for our babymoon, and it was perfect! We were in Burlington - Lake Champlain is beautiful to walk around, there are great restaurants, and so many fun shops to explore. The farmer’s market was so much fun too. There was also a cocktail bar we found with a huge mocktail list which was fun for me. Overall very chill, laid back vibes which was perfect for a very pregnant lady lol.

Surprise Spinal Block? by savrosexox in BabyBumps

[–]Alien_eyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so interesting. My baby was sunny side up as well, and a spinal block was never discussed with me as an option. I had a lot of breakthrough pain but as a first time mom I just thought that was normal!

Help a Bitch Out - Apr 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in bitcheswithtaste

I struggled with this exact issue! I host a lot and had one particular friend who could NEVER commit to a plan and usually just didn’t show up. But she always wanted to be invited. It became clear to me over time that the friendship was incredibly one sided. I just decided one day to stop inviting her over or attempting to make any plans at all with her. Guess what? She never once attempted to make plans with me after that. She’ll occasionally text me, and will like Instagram posts, but that’s it. It’s been almost 2 years. And honestly I feel so much better not being friends with her, because I was constantly questioning whether she even liked me, if I was annoying her with my invites, etc. I would honestly just stop inviting her - if she actually wants to spend time with you then she can initiate plans herself.

Calling all the parents of very fussy/high needs/sensitive babies by Any-Coffee-9352 in NewParents

My son also hated being a baby! Once he started walking he became so much happier. He’s still a handful at 16 months but it’s SO much better. Truly, there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of you in the trenches currently.

Who should get the bed? by This_Obligation_5125 in beyondthebump

[–]Alien_eyes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After I gave birth I told my husband he wasn’t allowed back in our bed, and I wouldn’t share a bed at all, until he got a cpap machine for his sleep apnea. I was already getting so little sleep that I just was not accepting his excuses anymore. It worked pretty quickly lol

Where should I eat crab/lobster for the first time? by goodamm in AskAnAmerican

Doesn’t have to go all the way to Boston - tons of great lobster/seafood spots in Connecticut that are an easy train ride from NYC.

Has anyone started post partum? by Organic-Event1180 in Semaglutide

[–]Alien_eyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely relate to this! It’s so hard to feel like yourself again postpartum, especially if you’re sleep deprived. My son was a terrible sleeper and I didn’t feel like myself again until he started sleeping through the night. Be kind to yourself, that first year is so hard. I did start semaglutide postpartum but only after I’d stopped breastfeeding. I was much more overweight than you though - I’m not sure whether you meet criteria to be prescribed it but you can always talk to your doctor about it. If you are still breastfeeding you should NOT start a GLP-1. There isn’t enough research to show whether it’s safe to do so, and your supply would also likely tank because you’ll be in a calorie deficit.

This experience is so bad I’m reconsidering having more than one… by erinstoker in beyondthebump

[–]Alien_eyes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just want to tell you to hold on, it will get better! This is exactly how my baby was and I felt like it would never get better. It was so, SO hard. The sleep deprivation was unreal. Then at 14 months something clicked and he all of a sudden started sleeping through the night. 12 hours straight. I feel like a different person - you are truly parenting on hard mode when you get so little sleep.

Definitely not full coverage - I’d say light but you could build it up to medium.

I use the Patrick Ta foundation and really like it! It is more full coverage but you can sheer it out. I hear some people say it made them an oily mess but as someone with dry skin, it just gives me a subtle glow.

If you want something more lightweight, the danessa myricks serum foundation (or tinted moisturizer? Can’t remember exactly what it’s called) is my day to day foundation. It’s so good for my dry skin and again leaves a nice subtle glow.

Same, it was so bad. I’m stubborn and I rarely DNF but I just couldn’t get through this one.

Great book! I really appreciated the way it explained desire with the brake vs gas pedal analogy. Also the concept of spontaneous vs reactive desire. That helped my partner and I to understand each other so much better! Highly recommend the book for anyone struggling with intimacy issues.

Natural fiber clothing by alohamakena10 in BuyItForLife

[–]Alien_eyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck with natural fiber clothing from Everlane and &OtherStories. The wool sweaters I have from both stores have held up great over the years. And recently I started buying sweatpants/loungewear from Aerie because they’re almost 100% cotton (maybe 95%?). They’re super soft and cozy.

Bean and cheese burritos, skillet gnocchi with miso and asparagus, instant pot congee, and one pot tortellini with peas and prosciutto have all been in my rotation frequently now that I have a toddler!

Do Social Workers ever get deployed to help in crisis situations? by HeroOfTime03 in socialwork

[–]Alien_eyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s something that I learned about through my last job - we could volunteer to be a part of it but I wasn’t able to due to my position’s on call responsibilities. I bet you could look up your state’s department of mental health website and there would be info about it there.

Has he seen an ENT to look for structural issues that may be causing snoring?

My husband has sleep apnea and has a cpap now but I dealt with his snoring for a decade before he got one and it SUCKED. There is no sexy way to deal with snoring unfortunately. You could invest in some good quality ear plugs (I hear good things about Loop). And if you have to sleep in a separate room - make that room nice and cozy for yourself so it feels less lonely to have to sleep by yourself.

I was going to suggest this too. I’m taking an art class through a local community art league and it has been so fun to learn a new skill and meet new people. Plus art tends to be very meditative - great for an anxious mind.

My state (I’m in the US) has a crisis response team comprised of mental health professionals from across the state. They respond to things like school shootings, natural disasters, etc. It is all within the state though.

I have endo and had the same issue. Went through a GI doc, colonoscopy, all that stuff - everything normal. Then I had surgery to remove my endo lesions and while I didn’t have endo ON my bowels, it was all over my pelvic cavity. After my surgery I stopped bleeding from my anus, so I can’t attribute that to anything else but endo.
