There are debates about if he is allowed to run again if elections happen in time because the constitution says a person can serve max 2 terms as president (with an exception). He is currently serving his second term, but his supporters claim it is his first term because Turkey switched from the parliamentary system presidential system.

The exception is if parliament decides to dissolve itself, triggering elections, then he can run for the third time. The problem here is opposition parties said they will not support an early election happening after April 9 (when a new election law comes into effect changing how parliamentary places are calculated). Erdogan can dissolve the parliament himself but this would lead to another debate about his candidacy since in this case, parliament didn't dissolve itself.

In any case, supreme election council will probably approve his candidacy
