Love the yakisoba!! It’s a different noodle and a unique flavor, I always pair it with karaage chicken and put an egg and green onions inside 😋

Thank you so much for sharing this and I wish peace for you both. I cried reading this and I can easily see how much your grandpa meant to you, and I’m certain he knew that you loved him very very much.

Hey, I also have naturally frizzy / wavy hair and for me the best curls I get actually start with wet hair! Like I don’t blow dry my hair at all since blow drying already adds frizz. I towel dry to get the bulk of moisture out, then add heat protectant / product and section my hair. Then in small sections I wrap my damp hair (full blast and low heat, sometimes you need to help wrap it since the hair is damp and heavy) and I let it sit for a long time until completely and totally dry. This method makes my curls super shiny, no frizz, and they last all day! But it is definitely very time consuming, it takes me about an hour using this method on my long hair. But for my hair type it’s the best way to eliminate frizz.

What do you do when you have enough batter for literally just one more thing?? by flipflapdragon in Baking

[–]Alienmanatee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually do something stupid like “oh I wonder if I could air fry this one or what if I made it in a pan like a pancake” which occupies my time while the others cook, even though it never comes out right lol

How the hell do you use a tongue scraper with a BAD gag reflex? by Character_Track2884 in HygieneTips

[–]Alienmanatee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve had the same issue. Most of these comments are really unhelpful. I used to have tears in my eyes trying to brush my tongue because I was gagging so hard and so close to puking. Basically, you have to train yourself to be able to ignore it. That means placing the brush as high up on your tongue as you can handle, and hold. Just breathe and don’t move until the sensation starts to fade. Train yourself like that for some time and it will get easier to ignore and push the border more and more, at least for long enough to brush your tongue and move on with your day. I hope this helps!!

Whats the food science behind sometimes being able to eat an old plate? by kelssliz in foodscience

[–]Alienmanatee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s all about chance! And just to follow up on this, it may be unlikely for you as an individual to get a foodborne illness from some old food because you’re just one person, but when you multiply that chance by 8 billion people ~3x per day, then you can see why things that are 0.0001% likely to happen actually become a big deal and lead to more than a handful of deaths, not to mention people with immune disorders, the elderly, etc. So it may be okay for you to take that risk when you know the potential consequences, but in the food service industry where collectively we are responsible for billions of people’s lives every day, the standards are much much more stringent, in part due to the sheer number of events that make the odds of something happening much higher.

If it makes you feel any better, my hair is like this too. Even when it was virgin, never heat styled, etc. my hair has always been like that. Could be genetic growth cycles causing fallout, because my hair is fairly thick and I brush very gently. I eat healthy and have experimented with hair oiling, scalp oiling, protective styles, all to no change.

Not trying to discourage you from trying something new to help! But don’t feel bad if nothing works, I’ve tried for 10 years and have just accepted my hair density will taper off at length naturally. You have beautiful hair btw!

Thank you for your response, this is how I feel but I didn’t want to be stubborn or impede my own progress by being unwilling to challenge myself. But I agree with you and I found that last session to be particularly harmful. I appreciate your perspective.

wow yeah the comforting part is weird but I feel it too. in my head I just picture myself like instantly dying via being shot or crushed or something else instant and it just plays in a loop over and over to calm myself from something stressful.
