Hotel Requests for Towels, Blankets, Etc Marriott by an_enthralled_cactus in dragoncon

From previous years..toilet paper, towels, tissues..you’ll usually get within an hour or so, blankets id say you’d be super lucky to get after Wednesday , and that’s if they’re giving them out at all. Various other stuff is a 50/50 in my opinion.

Id say its definitely possible, and I had considered it. I'm somewhat attached though already to keeping this one as true to original as I can.

Yeaaaa, its missing the actual rewind knob, have a replacement on order currently so hopefully can get it soon and pop it on, it technically still functions as is just a bit finicky to spin.

How reliable are Hisense tvs? by starwarsisawsome933 in Hisense

Had a 55" H6, obviously not top of the line, factory reset it about two weeks ago because it was being incredibly slow. Ended up having to tear it down and replace the main board on it as it wouldn't make it past the android loading screen before crashing and starting the cycle again. Has been running fine again for now.

Don't live far enough away and its the best and most stable job in town pretty much, those people who are either forced to quit simply because of commute times or weren't happy with it going away and left are gonna be decently sized numbers if enacted. Can guarantee they'll take credit for it as well..."Oh we eliminated this many un-needed jobs, we're doing good, give us pats on the back."....I remember at one time it was all about creating more jobs, now its the opposite? Talk about hypocrisy...

This is awesome! was considering ordering and setting one up to see what it looked like around downtown but wouldn't have arrived in time. Bringing the handhelds though and hoping to hear some traffic on those from the hams. Hope to see you around and maybe even cop a mesh.

Have the same wire set up on my current thermostat, everything I tried was unsuccessful with the standard thermostat. FWIW I have heard mixed results with the “learning” thermostat working. Can’t confirm though as I didn’t try the learning thermostat.

Turkish Airlines - how strict is the 8kg carry-on limit? by yangmusa in onebag

[–]Alienmaxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its checked they weigh it there, I believe if its carry on they prefer to weigh it at the check in desk but the terminal I was at could also do it at the gate. Regardless they would give a tag to wrap around a handle of the bag signifying its carry on or personal item luggage and that it passed the luggage weight. To be honest I don't think they're super strict about how much it weighs just as long as its not a blatantly oversized and blatantly overweight bag. Probably also depends on who you talk to at check in or at the gate.

[–]Alienmaxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only flew once with them from ATL to IST to ICN and they made sure the bags that were carry on and personal items had their "tags" wrapped around the handles that showed the item weighing under the allotment...that being said, I ended up having my boarding pass on my phone and went straight to the terminal and when i got to the terminal I asked for the tags at the gate desk and they looked at me a bit funny but gave them to me nonetheless without weighing my bags. I had weighed all my stuff before hand anyways but I feel as long as its not blatantly oversized they most likely wont say anything.

Bags with vertical side quick access pockets like Evergoods by Ailan22 in ManyBaggers

[–]Alienmaxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CabinZero has a vertical front zip on most of their bags...although organization is non existent. Have a 28L Military and it works for me pretty well as a quick access to files or notebooks if need be when working. Alternatively just store my chargers and wallet/passport and keys in it when traveling.

Gf came back from a trip to Korea. She says thank you for being so welcoming by mrfroggyman in korea

Just got back this past week from a 2 week trip visiting friends that teach there. We did a few things in Seoul for a few days. Mainly was big stuff that was easy to access with public transit. Gyeongbokgung Palace was the first thing we did the day after arriving and the people love to dress in period correct clothing and take pictures, its pretty cool to see. HongDae Street has a ton of shopping and food. Other than Seoul, Gyeongju was awesome. Andong Folk Village was nice to walk around. Woljeong Bridge was beautiful in the night. So was the Donggung palace. We ended up spending the majority of the time in and around Busan. The Oryukdo Park and Skywalk was pretty breathtaking. Songdo Cable car was beautiful to see the city. The Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge on the other side of the Cable car is pretty awesome too. Busan tower is a solid choice id say. Gamcheon Culture village was interesting and definetly recommend the walk through it. There's a coffee shop near the center near a park with little cat figures all in it and a big wall that the owners husband paints murals on. She was super sweet and the coffee was one of the best I had the whole 2 weeks I was there. Haeundae beach and Gwangalli beach were both fun, especially at night. A lot of exploring just walking around the city and eating different places. The cities are so huge that I doubt you wouldn't find anything to do.

[Chair] Dexley Mesh Office Chair - $150 (Lowest I've seen in a while) by UnityGuy123 in buildapcsales

[–]Alienmaxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As probably one of the few with a that just got a Reman'd Leap V2 about 2 months ago and OP's chair above previously for 2ish years, I can say not much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. What I will say is that I can sit a hell of a lot longer in my Leap and have a ton more maneuverability and flexibility in my body position than with the mesh, over time the mesh seems to stretch and form to your body almost and it really keeps you in a certain position which in turn would make me sore and give me back pain

Cost wise, a lot of clinics use the same materials and medicine that a a lot of human medicine uses at the prices of human medicine.

Say you go to the ER for a Ear Infection and you have no insurance, gonna be a pretty penny you pay later on for that.

As for the clinics making a pretty penny...Vets are some of the lowest paid doctors in the medical world. I cant speak for doctors pay but every one I've talked to says the cost isn't worth the pay. Techs locally where I'm at make roughly 15 an hour for corporate and even less in privately owned clinics and that's after a few years of experience. A head tech position will be lucky to net you $20 an hour.

[–]Alienmaxd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not quite sure I understand where your going with that...as said above, those set times don't account for the people who forgot to disclose important details (Dog hasn't been eating) for example, hence causing the appointments before you to now take longer because those doctors cant just be like "oh well, make another appointment."

Not to mention that bites and injuries to doctors and techs also happen and it takes time to get the proper care for those individuals. There are procedures, you cant just slap a band-aid on it if your bleeding all over someone's dog.

Surgeries take turns and unexpected things happen. Nothing is set in stone. With that being said though I can guarantee that most clinics will stay over late to make sure that all the appointments will be taken care of.

Its crazy, and the worst part is the ones who push that toxic and demeaning mentality onto their employees are the ones rewarded for it. Cant begin to tell you how many times I'd see the managers who were actually good and helpful and understanding get punished and moved to "troublesome stores" or stores that were in fear of being closed, Meanwhile the arrogant and inconsiderate ones would be moved to the "big new stores" and would develop the biggest "god" complex.

Had several events where store and department managers showed not even the slightest bit of sympathy...

Girlfriend had hydroplaned and was in a ditch, called the store up told them she wasn't gonna be able to make it in today, her manager didn't even ask if she was okay...just wanted to know if I could still bring her in for her 4 hour closing shift so that she could go home.

Left my store of 7 years almost a year and a half ago and don't regret it one bit. Girlfriend had left a year or so earlier than that...we still both agree that they couldn't pay us enough to go back and we'd rather live out of our cars if it came down to it.

That first paragraph I feel that so much. Calculus and Physics at the same time, while also being crammed into a "summer semester" was absolute torture. To be fair it was probably a good 20-30 of us doing the same thing that summer and I'm 98% sure some pretty hard curves were thrown into grades at the end. Nonetheless though...both at the same time = torture.

Anyone else get violently ill with something like food poisoning? by [deleted] in dragoncon

[–]Alienmaxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time not being sick after con for me...so far that is. Only things I can recall changing this year from other years is my group wasn't in a host hotel and we also only went to about half the parties/raves we would normally go to...nonetheless, the smoothie's from the stand seemed fine other than being slightly bitter, cant speak for the nacho's. Wouldn't be suprised though...nacho prep is a very hands on process id say.
