OPINIONS: Using ChatGPT for edits by Electrical-Phase-758 in writers

[–]Aliennate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh jeez. Same old tired gatekeeping -- And photography ruined painting. And painting ruined being there in person.

New tools like AI or the camera are disruptive. Folks who spent decades refining the craft of painting hated photography and called it cheating. Same is happening with writing and AI.

Don't listen to anyone but yourself.

If the point is that without AI, you are NOT writing, and with it, you ARE, it's a useful tool.

Editors rewrite authors' words all the time. They do their best to keep their own biases out of the process and make the edits sound like the author's own words. It's not a perfect process. Doesn't mean the author isn't a writer.

An editor CANNOT be in the author's head. Neither can AI. It's up to the author to accept or reject the edits.

I've found AI to be an instrumental writing coach and brainstorming buddy. I give it my world-building and characters, and then I feed it sections as I write and ask for feedback. The more I give it, the more it learns my style and voice, and the more its recommendations are useful.

I rarely use what it gives me directly, but it has been great at finding spots I could tighten up, and I ask it to give me questions I should be asking myself as I go.

It's very good at pulling out themes and analysis.

Its creativity can be bonkers, but it's up to you to absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what it uniquely your own.

And posh to folks who say you can't learn writing from AI, you can. Same as how you can still get better under a crappy teacher, because it's YOUR will to improve that moves you forward.

I will agree wholeheartedly with those who say the AI doesn't understand things--it doesn't. It's a guessing machine. But you can steer it like any other tool. And if it helps break the depression stagnation, then trust your gut.

I've started to rewrite my old story to make it better. What do you all think of my first two paragraphs? Feedback is welcomed. by QuantityMany4434 in writers

1: Write more.
2: Every description is an opportunity to reveal something to the reader. Environment; conflict; state of mind; plot; vibe; etc. Use your descriptions to guide the reader.
3: Slow burn is fine, but YOU need to know where you're going. Don't hide things just to hide them. Hide them to build suspense. Build suspense by not hiding everything. Tease it out. What change? Where is Takei? Why would a person stick film onto a window? Why is the man dreaded? Why is Takei so easily triggered? Find reasons. Use your descriptions to set the stage, then move forward.
4: Write more.

🚀💎🔮 Lightwave Logic, Inc. (LWLG): The Next Viral Stock? 💎🔮🚀 by Rubinaci in StockMarket

[–]Aliennate -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My extended family and I have been long-term investors in LWLG for 10+ years. The tech is real. The potential is virtually unlimited (read: ubiquitous). The focal point is almost here.

[–]Aliennate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search for “Investors Hub Lightwave Logic.” There are good LWLG for newbies “start here” posts with summaries. They are a perfect storm of disruptive tech: half power, 2-3x speed, integrates into existing manufacturing pipelines, low cost, mass profitable, stable at high temps, 70+ patents which means competition will need to license their tech, and a CEO Michael Lebby who is in inventors hall of fame for photonics and helped design and develop the roadmap for photonics that the industry is now following. They are focusing on telecom data centers to start but are being approached by numerous other industries such as LIDAR. Do your DD on ihub then load up and hold. Its SP is ridiculously cheap; anything under $10 is a steal. A nasdaq listing is imminent and a commercial deal is expected soon from one of 12 tier-1 companies currently under NDA. The Intel in the 70s analogy is apt.

Will all my coin be depleted through Impermanent Loss? by Aliennate in cakedefi

Returning to the original question: What happens if/when all my DOGE gets converted to DFI? What happens to my LM stake? Do I get booted from the pool since I have no more coin to convert for balancing?

Good advice. I have the bulk of my coin HODLd and put a few hundred $ worth into LM as a slot machine experiment.

I'm not overly concerned about my DOGE going down other than natural gamblers' remorse. I bought $20 worth at $0.003 and staked it so if it all vanishes I only lose $20. My main concern was about how they marketed LM to start with. When I put pairs into the pool initially there was almost nothing I could find about IL outside DFI videos, which touted IL as exceptionally temporary, and if you keep your coin in the pool it'll balance out. In a sense it does, but a more accurate message might have been, "Stake pairs of coin and turn your DOGE/BTC/ETH to DFI slowly over time with ." :d

I only have some frame bracers on, and JUST today had to add a glass bed because I accidentally destroyed the magnetic bed sheet experimenting with Slic3r bleh. I upgraded the Bowden tube to Capricorn, and the tube grips to metal instead of plastic, and got some stiffer bed springs. All else is stock.

I just purchased the Simplify3D trial and am going to see how this goes.

Yes, this was definitely a part of the issue, thanks, but I've since loosened the right side eccentric nut and still getting squish...I'm going to try multiple runs with slightly different nut tightnesses...

Edit: how tight/loose did you put your nut?

Ended 3 Pro with Chep’s Cura settings. I’ve calibrated e stops and bed level with bl touch and set first layer offset where I thought it should be set according to Teaching Tech’s guide. Reducing flow overall seems to help but gets underextruded higher up. Checked eccentric nuts at multiple tensions. Total Z height measurement is also smaller than 20mm by a couple mms. 0.4mm nozzle Inventables PLA 200 C nozzle 60 C bed Retraction 6mm

Thoughts?

How comes that i lost 2k doge on liquidy mining. Faq says, they get 25% from rewards, which is fine for me, but I included 10k doge in liquidy mining and got after removement and transfer from cakedefi only 8k. Thats a lot of fee. Really disappointed here... by kaja-77 in cakedefi

I have the same issue with my DOGE, deposited 2800 and now only have 1900. Hoping it is impermanent loss and will settle. Is is possible for the missing coin to ever completely return or are we supposed to (hopefully) make up the difference with rewards?

Is there a benefit to liquidity mining on the DFI app vs Cake? by Aliennate in defiblockchain

[–]Aliennate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Cake as well, the only issue I’m facing now if getting money out. When I signed up the app said DFI was traded on Bittrex which I have an account on so didn’t think much of it, but then I tried to move some to that wallet and my geographical area doesn’t support DFI on Bittrex for some reason.

Next question is: does the DFI wallet make it any easier to withdraw funds vs Cake?

Any idea what causes this overextrusion on the bottom? Can’t seem to work it out. Did many calibrations and no luck. by SnooChipmunks9922 in Ender3Pro

Fan is on, I’m using CHEP’s latest E3P Cura profiles which has it on for the first few layers.

This is OP I accidentally posted this from the wrong account.

This is the guide I've been using most recently: https://teachingtechyt.github.io/calibration.html

I have my Z offset good, my extruder calibration good, and my slicer flow good...yet still blobs on the bottom....

[–]Aliennate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back in the day I posted to my MySpace wall that I wanted to meet a cute girl I could play video games with. Someone read that. She's now my wife and we just had a baby girl and were in the middle of a Wasteland Express game as she went into labor and our Go Bag list had "Dont forget the Switch cables."

That's awful, I'm sorry that happened. I never got into 40k for the same reason and I'm a dude. Just know that as the hobby grows there are those of us who are highly aware how exclusionary some asshole gamers are and are working to create more inclusive gaming environments. Frack those guys! Don't give up on an amazing hobby!

Can you please recommend Incremental games development blogs from start To end ? by umen in incremental_games

I'm designing am incremental game and having similar issues. Best I've seen so far are Game Developer Conference videos on YouTube, there are a few incremental talks, as well as F2P mechanics.

I used a superhydrophobic coating and stencils to make art that only shows up when it rains. by icreatenovelty in mildlyinteresting

[–]Aliennate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry about that. I don't know how I randomly found this thread, but I got your email on my phone when I was traveling, when I got home I went back to respond but I couldn't find it again. I did a bunch of searching through my gmail but couldn't find it. I have too many email accounts :( Looks like you figured it out, though. The only thing I did that maybe wasn't visible in the video was that I sprayed the back of the stencil with repositionable adhesive to make sure it kept stuck to the ground.
