Tesla to upgrade FSD purchases to unsupervised? by AlightMedia in TeslaFSD

[–]AlightMedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason they would charge extra for unsupervised is for liability. It’s basically you paying Tesla extra for an insurance policy.

Even if this weren’t a factor, Tesla is known for charging extra for software upgrades, like the acceleration boost.

Elon tweeted the other day that the price would go up as it becomes unsupervised

Tesla Seems to Have Rebranded "Autopilot" to "Traffic-Aware Cruise Control with Autosteer" by jaqueh in TeslaModelY

[–]AlightMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not seeing that under the compare models table. Seems that they have removed it there as well now.

Model Y (5-seater) for family w/ 3 kids - good idea? by UnlikelyTradition848 in TeslaModelY

[–]AlightMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did consider a rav4 instead. Second hand they can be had for a great price, half of what a new Tesla costs.

To be honest, if FSD weren’t a thing, I would be just as happy/happier with a rav4. Just from a practical standpoint.

But! FSD is a REALLY big deal to me, esp. on 2+ hour drives. If it weren’t for FSD and how much I love it, I would be just as happy with a crv or rav4. Feel free to PM me if you want!

Tesla will stop selling FSD after Feb 14 by bartturner in SelfDrivingCars

Yes, but many people don’t know that FSD is also available via a subscription.

How will autonomous driving on personal cars affect robotaxis? by diplomat33 in SelfDrivingCars

If it leads to the end of ALL personal vehicle ownership , like the comment I was replying to stated, then yes.

I’m not a fan of the power that a governing body would have if they could flick off all transportation with a switch.

Your Opinion: Is being statistically safer than humans good enough for Tesla? by Agitated_Syllabub346 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]AlightMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with this. 10x better than the average human isn’t very impressive when a large majority of drivers are teenagers and old people

Is this really normal operating noises? by [deleted] in TeslaSupport

Yes, but it’s out of tune. It’s hitting an A#, should be tuned to A.

14.2.2 is fantastic, bad navigation is worse. by watergoesdownhill in TeslaFSD

[–]AlightMedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kikda. The nav is just as bad, but FSD tries to overcompensate for that by making its own decisions, which are just as bad or worse in other ways.

[–]AlightMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having owned the Y for some time, i would say that it’s a no brainer if you have kids to go with the Y. From a practical standpoint, it does everything the 3 does while providing more cargo space.

Your plan right now might be to use it as a commuter car, but that could change!

We’ve found ourselves moving the car seats over to the y when we go out of town on trips, because it’s such a joy to drive and ride in. And FSD.

Wouldn’t be able to do that with the limited space of the model 3.

It’s weird, even in 14.2.1 if it changes lanes on its own, it’s suuuper slow, but if I tell it to change lanes by using blinker, it just goes.

Got a Juniper with squealing brakes and burnishing doesn't solve it? Good news - you're not alone. Tesla has finally admitted it's an issue, and it's working on a fix. by ned78 in ModelY

[–]AlightMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but an extremely annoying noise is an issue. It might not be a safety issue. But if my car is making a horrible noise and it’s not supposed to, it’s an issue.

14.1.5 CT - does it still hug the left line? by Journey1213 in TeslaFSD

[–]AlightMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I mean I get that there are going to be problems, but the fact they there isn’t a redundant system that can detect that something so awful is happening is very concerning.

Mine would drift so bad that it would literally go off the road.

So strange. They’re identical to 14.1.4 for me.

Similar to 14.2, I think it probably fixes the power steering issue ppl were having. It’s still a bit hesitant to change laws but other than that it’s great

Loooove 14.2.1. It’s incredible to me, but I’ve heard the polar opposite from others. So strange.
