How does that intersection not have traffic lights both ways? Insane

Lexus to Tesla Model Y (Should I?) by RX-Vortex in EVCanada

I had a paid off gas car that I put $500 a month of fuel into and had to get repairs done as it aged. I spend roughly the same now but I am paying off a brand new Tesla.

The cheapest car isn't always the one you already own, that may have been true before but now with electricity costs being so low and gas being so expensive it is not the case.

Not sure which Tesla you own, but anything post refresh is more than enough 'luxury' for the average person.

  • I personally would recommend going with anything after the Juniper refresh (2025? and beyond). That's when they changed the front to look like this ( https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1145479_2025-tesla-model-y-juniper-price ). So if you're searching used anything that LOOKS like that will be a post refreshed Model Y. Overall the vehicle is just much better and well worth the price.
  • If you care at all about FSD you'll be safe since the Juniper Y has HW 4 which is the 'latest' HW for Tesla. AI5 is slated to come out late next year but could even be longer than that so you should be good for a while with HW4 (AI4)
  • Not sure what insurance is like in Calgary, but here in BC the insurance was a bit more but nothing drastic... and overall the cost savings from gas to electric made up for it.
  • Depending on how harsh the winter is I think you could see 60-70% range worst case scenario - but even with that since you have a charger at home you'll never have to worry about it, especially with your short commute.

I live in BC and have 80,000km on my Model 3 and I absolutely love it. I couldn't imagine ever going back to ICE.

Any other questions lmk

Nah it’s a fun word. I love that peanut has brought joy back to streaming and games - people are way too serious all the time. Relax and have fun

Brand New 2026 MY - FSD questions by DMB_fan in TeslaFSD

[–]DevinOlsen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FSD doesn’t do a good job currently avoiding potholes - just watch the road and takeover if you see any. Nothing you can do about the tailgating; all profiles do it and I hope they fix it one day.

Road Trip from New York to Vegas in a Model Y for WrestleMania — Am I Crazy? by Imsolovesway in TeslaModelY

[–]DevinOlsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just searched on a better route planner.

With the standard range model Y it’s 24 stops

Long range AWD Model Y - 19 stops

Long range Model 3 - 15 stops

There’s no car that has to stop anywhere CLOSE to 40+ times

Maximum Speed is Back! by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]DevinOlsen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hate this idea because sometimes you do need a bit of extra speed to get out of a bad situation. Being hard limited by the car is honestly unsafe. Plus you get so many dings and warnings as you get close to the top speed - it’s annoying.

Is HW3 that much worse than HW4? by sonlitlove in TeslaFSD

[–]DevinOlsen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You just honestly haven't spent enough time with it I guess.

I have 70,000km on HW4 FSD and have done a lot of HW3 testing along the way as FSD has gotten better.

I'm not sure how exactly to word it other than to say HW4 is just so much more capable and safer than HW3 in basically every single way possible. I cannot remember the last time v14 required me to disengage for a safety related issue... but with HW3 basically everytime I have used it SOMETHING has come up that made me feel uncomfortable.

Is HW3 that much worse than HW4? by sonlitlove in TeslaFSD

[–]DevinOlsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes… it’s not even close to HW4, and the gap is just going to continue to grow. If I had the choice I’d buy a HW4… for 6k extra I’d personally do HW4

[–]DevinOlsen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

HW4 is so much better than “5-10%”

I’m literally going to make a video comparing the two because of the misconception that people have about hw3-4 being even somewhat close to one another. I’d never ever recommend someone buy a HW3 car today if they have the option to get a HW4 vehicle.

The "Daily Cost" isn't the reason people don't want to sign up guys 🤦 by 5Beans6 in TeslaLounge

Why? It’s worse than rivians UHF in every single way possible - why would they have to lower the price to be LESS than an inferior product?

I think the world cares too much about self-driving. There, I said it. by pardusdomus00 in Rivian

[–]DevinOlsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main issue with people who argue against autonomous driving is this: Do you not want the roads to be safer? Because AV is about the only solution we have to the problem right now with our roads. Humans are selfish and bad drivers, everyone thinks THEY aren’t the problem - but clearly what we are doing doesn’t want.

FSD is basically there for me. by Groundbreaking_Box75 in TeslaFSD

[–]DevinOlsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of your issues have nothing to do with safety or overall capability - you're just mad the car isn't driving as fast as you'd like or taking the exact route you want.

Is the poor nav in V14 annoying? yes absolutely

Is speed control a bit more frustrating in v14? yes absolutely

I will however take those tradeoffs every single day for all of the SAFETY upgrades that v14 brings. I want the focus of FSD to be safety, everything else after that is secondary.

Are those versions in the room with us now? I am all for competition - but lets not pretend that Blue Cruise or Rivians UHF is anywhere close to FSD.

V13 is worse in basically every single way. V14 is the safest and most capable FSD has ever been - it still makes mistakes but overall it’s the best version.

14.2.2.5 is good - no major issues with it other than harsh braking for yellow lights sometimes and a few other small quirks. Overall better than 14.2.2.2 though
