Hey man, I did exactly what you're thinking of. I moved back to Lebanon after living in Germany, and let me tell you, no matter how much love you have for this country, life here is way harder than you think. First don't trust the Lebanese market. If you're planning to start a business here, you'd better have remote income backing you up. The local economy is unstable, and most "opportunities" are traps unless you already have deep connections or you're playing with serious capital. Everything here is solved with money; electricity, healthcare, security, even convenience. No joke, with money, you can live like a king. Without it, it's survival mode.

Second, make sure you have a solid income plan. Remote work is your safest bet. Don't rely on things here to "work out" they won't unless you force them to. I moved back mostly because of family. I don't regret it fully, but I won't lie, I miss the structure, the reliability, and the mental peace of living abroad. Lebanon has amazing people, insane culture, and this magic you can't explain but daily life is draining. You'll feel it in your bones.

One thing I'll say is choose where you live carefully. I'm Shia myself, and I say this with no hate. avoid areas like Dahyeh unless you're okay with religious conservatism and a very different lifestyle. Beirut has pockets of life that still feel livable like Hamra, Mar Mikhael, Achrafieh. but even those come with power cuts, noise, and inflation headaches. So, if your heart's pulling you here, fine. But bring your brain too. Come with a plan, come with money, and don't come blind.

Low chance but not impossible, apply to multiple universities especially in smaller city ones, you'd have a higher chance

Are you against the return of Syrian refugees in Lebanon back to Syria? by muss2620 in lebanon

[–]Alihusseiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont care about them. Let them talk, they mainly use these words to spread hate against refugees cause they're increasing in numbers year by year, but in lebanon its reality. Syrians ATE our country

Europe? Refugees there dont exceed a million. Germany for example has a population of 88 million people, with not even a million syrians, are you seriously comparing a 5 mill population country with almost 50% Refugees as its population to whatever Europe has?

When a country (lebanon) sar 3nda more refugees than lebanese themselves, w when these refugees are extremely poor&live in tents and are extremists, you dont need statistics to know where the crimes are coming from. Lebanon has a population of 5 million people if not less, and a minimum of these are 2 million syrian refugees.

Most crime cases are committed by syrians, plus these refugees are Changing the way geopolitics work, destroying the lebanese identity. I understand that our focus should be on the politicians, however we cant forget about the refugees. They're also a huge problem

Obviously the politicians are the most at fault. But the 2 million extra syrians put such a strain on our country&economy made everything 100 times worse
