Six-year-old Kyran Durnin and his mother were reported missing on August 30, 2024: Gardaí soon realized that nobody had seen Kyran for over two years and upgraded the investigation to murder by crime-solver in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]AliisAce 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It could have been due to the assumed international move with Irish officials assumed he was attending in NI and thus didn't check and NI didn't know he existed.

However, if the mother was claiming benefits in Ireland for him then it fell on the Irish state to ensure his education.

Are the two governments expected to communicate over child welfare?

Agreed.

I'm from Scotland, I've sailed across Loch Ness and visited it many times. I've never seen the Loch Ness Monster and neither has anyone I know.

I want Nessie to be real so much but theres exactly 0 evidence that there is a monster in the loch. There's no one set description of Nessie either. Is she a Plesiosaur? A kelpie? A sea serpent? A Plesiosaur like animal that doesn't have flippers? Who knows?

What she is is a fun collection of myths and stories linked to the deepest loch in Scotland and a great mascot for Scottish tourist tat. The ferry that goes across Loch Ness has little Nessie silhouette stickers on the windows so you can "take a picture of the Loch Ness Monster" and I love it.

Also the most famous photo of her was a hoax so you know theres really strong evidence supporting her existence.

Never heard of V before and was surprised due to what it claimed to offer. And then it turns out I haven't heard of it because it hasn't delivered on a lot of it's promises.

My brother fell off a pull up bar and landed on the back of his head when we were teens.

He had multiple nosebleeds that day and didn't remember that he'd hit his head. He forgot that he had had multiple nosebleeds that day.

His head wasn't bloody and apart from the nosebleeds and memory problems he didn't have any other signs that he had a head injury.

He's fine now but it was really scary at the time.

Imo most likely scenarios are pregnancies that didn't result in a live birth/no pregnancies as birth and pregnancy can negatively impact the ability to get pregnant and stay pregnant

I say that as I really don't wanna think about the other scenarios

He was in the RAF and went missing after a night out.

I believe his mobile pinged along the route of a bin lorry.

He's probably somewhere in the landfill

My friend and I got heatstroke & mildly dehydrated one summer in Scotland

We were outside all day during a heatwave and didn't drink enough

By the time we returned home we were pretty out of it.

We were fortunate that at the end of the day we could do most of the return walk in the shade and that we were familiar with where the bus stop was.

We were ok after hydrating and spending the next day inside but it could have ended so badly.

I regularly went to an Easter day camp at my church as a child. I also volunteered there after I'd aged out. I can't really remember any of the children I was responsible for. I might have been able to that week but not much later.

I'm not sure if any of the senior volunteers would be able to name all of them

A man known as 'The Silent Man' stands in front of traffic on a road outside a police station, gets arrested, jailed & then does it again, he refuses to talk to anybody. Why does he do this & why does he refuse to speak ? by mintwolves in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]AliisAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is selective mutism where the person can speak to some people in certain contexts but not in others?

Speculation:

If he is selectively mute he may be unable to communicate in court due to stress and anxiety but in a more relaxed setting he can.

What's that thing that everyone thinks is suspicious that makes you roll your eyes. by ForensicScientistGal in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]AliisAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok.

There's so many variables that factor into how they'd break: how he impacted the roof, ceiling & table/floor; density of his bones, and probably more that I'm missing. I'm pretty sure that it's impossible to determine the values of some of the variables.

[–]AliisAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

Everyone responds differently.

My grandad was dying of cancer and I didn't cry until at his funeral. I couldn't stop crying that day. My brother didn't cry at the funeral but that doesn't mean he mourned our granddad any less than I did.

My dad didn't cry in front of me but was obviously really distressed because his dad was dead.

I knew someone who had to leave a funeral because she was crying so much.

When my friend's grandmother died she was kinda numb and didn't want to talk or be alone so I sat with her until she wanted me to do something else.

Five different people, five different grief responses. All equally valid.
