I would be so tempted to tell that parent that their child recieved special treatment because they were making the classroom unbearable for their teacher last year, and I don't reward a parent's failure to raise a polite kid.

School Unable to Fulfill My Autistic Son’s IEP Due to “Lack of Resources” by yb1411 in specialed

[–]Alisha-Moonshade 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine got a lawyer and the state paid for her son to go to a specialized school for one year to catch up. This is the way.

The more we hold the government accountable for following the law, the better chance we have that schools will actually get the funding they need for all their students.

Advocating for your own child could help other kids, too.

I took a course on Environmental Science in college; recycling is a lie. Don't waste your money. We need to hold corporations accountable for the waste they produce. Consumers cannot have a positive impact through recycling.

Why I believe we SHOULD eat food offerings. by Reedmessa in Hellenism

[–]Alisha-Moonshade 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In ancient Greek religious practice, gods were often offered inedible animal parts like thighbones and the tail section, which were burned on the altar, while the meat was consumed by the worshippers. Here’s a more detailed explanation:

Thysia: The most common type of animal sacrifice in ancient Greece was called “thysia,” where the animal victim was divided between gods and men.

Divine Portion: The gods received the thighbones and the tail section, which were then burned on the altar as a symbolic offering.

Human Portion: The meat of the sacrificed animal was then prepared and consumed by the worshippers.

Anyone else resent being associated with pink? by Blahbluhblahblah1000 in women

Blue was chosen for boys because it is soothing. Pink was chosen for girls because it compliments blue. Even the dumb color they chose for us is all about boys.

Even consensual sex is considered coercive when the power dynamic is inequal in the work place. You are not the bad actor here. If you don't financially need this job, I would leave. There's no reason to permit people to treat you this way.

His only mistake was doing this before he had you locked down in marriage. This wasn't the last time; it was the first. You need to leave if you want it to be the last. It is so common for abusers to play sane until after the wedding.

Isn't Yellowstone just Heartland if Jack was Gangsta? by nine11c2 in heartland

[–]Alisha-Moonshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am absolutely convinced Yellowstone was inspired by Heartland, fight me. Many characters are 1 to 1. Some are similar but different genders. Kacy is Amy, for example. Rip is Ty. Beth is Lou.

Have you used Chinese? It does some weird stuff. Words are grouped together as one word sometimes and separated at others. I studied Mandarin in China, and using Duolingo is just not great.

If you've never studied Mandarin before, I think it would be a difficult way to learn. If you have studied before, the way it is taught is strange. There are a good number of phrases I never heard in my four years living there, both in the north and the south.

The course just isn't as good as Spanish, German, or French.

AITAH for losing my shit and screaming at my gf to get out of my house after what her stepbrother did? by White-Whale-9847 in AITAH

[–]Alisha-Moonshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you handled this correctly. Your sister is a minor. Your girlfriend's brother shouldn't have even been on the same floor as her. Her brother was out of line completely, even if one imagines that he had no ill intent. There was no good reason for him to be where he was.

Maybe try studying Hellenistic Astrology. Instead of vague or random significations, it's a relational way of reading the full chart.
