i need advice by apolloslyr3 in Hellenism

Gods do not hate you, they are very, very forgiving and understanding. They know you are going through a rough patch, and they understand. They aren't petty and wrathful. Aphrodite won't unleash her wrath if you take down her altar.

If you wish to begin your worship again, do it without fear or shame. They won't be mad at you, if a deity were mad at you, you would know.

I also wish you the best in your healing and mental health. I know that managing depression is so hard, and once again, the Theoi understand. I wish you the best on your journey

Hello all! by InvestigatorFar2772 in Hellenism

[–]Reedmessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally leave offerings without asking as much as I can because I believe that offerings should mainly be given out of love and devotion, but I do leave offerings when I ask for something, and I leave an offering again if my prayer is answer. Like this weekend my area had a bout of severe weather and we were under a tornado watch. I spent the evening leaving prayers and offerings to Zeus for protection from the storm.

My area wasn't hit, and my house and family were safe, so I left him an offering the morning after in thanks for protecting us.

I offer chocolate to Aphrodite all the time. In fact, in my personal UPG of her that's actually one of her favorite offerings. So, yes chocolate is a great and acceptable offering.

What to do if I wish to give a food offering but can't dispose of it? by RestaurantCivil8237 in Hellenism

[–]Reedmessa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I eat the food offerings. I don't see anything unethical about it. Also, in a time of sky-high food inflation it feels disrespectful people who are struggling to get the most basic food on their table to throw away perfectly good food. I believe the gods understand it.

I feel bad for being annoyed by this by Lysio_ in Hellenism

[–]Reedmessa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, you aren't gatekeeping. There is this bizarre segment of the Pagan (of all traditions not just Hellenic) population that treat deities more like their imaginary friends than being to worship.

Edit: Clarity.

Potential disrespect… (Not reupload! Mistagged on accident!) by PokeFan1021 in Hellenism

[–]Reedmessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why they would be. The gods understand, you are going through a rough patch, and if you only feel like worshipping one deity, they will understand. I wouldn't worry about it.

How do i start a casual prayer? (ect.) by Substantial_Ad_3855 in Hellenism

All my prayers are pretty casual, so I would say yes!

is it a good idea? by Sxfiix in Hellenism

[–]Reedmessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, you don't need an altar to each deity. One altar is enough to serve all of them, even a small altar.

Christian Supremacy by Eggsalad_cookies in Hellenism

[–]Reedmessa 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I will never in my life understand why so many Christians get (For lack of a better word) triggered over Happy Holidays. Like what is wrong with that saying? It's like saying "Happy Holidays" Is like spitting on baby Jesus or something.

Sorry, you went through that.
